I’ve got a little under 2 weeks till my due date and I’m moving from my mother-in-laws to my parents house tomorrow evening. My mother-on-law has asked me to go out for a meal in the evening with her but I feel I’m so close to going into labour that I’m worried about going incase I go into labour whilst we are out.
My husband thinks I should go but I’m just so anxious as it’s my first baby and it’s all new to me.

Go! If you start to go into labour, it’s usually hours before anything happens anyway.

lentilly · 20/10/2022 13:29

Could you go somewhere that's quick like nandos?

Tbh if you're late you might get really bored if you don't go out for a month. I get your concern though.

NoSquirrels · 20/10/2022 13:36

Go out for a meal. Once the baby is here you won’t for a while!

Orangio · 20/10/2022 13:40

Heck yes, go out. Unless you have piles or something where you can't sit down!
If the restaurant is 200 miles from the nearest hospital I might change my view, but assuming you aren't currently based in Siberia I think you should go.

TulipVictory · 20/10/2022 13:46

Wait until you hit your due date and nothing has happened yet ! 🙈

Lcb123 · 20/10/2022 13:50

Assuming you aren’t travelling hours for this meal, go out and enjoy!

Dyra · 20/10/2022 13:54

I would have jumped at the chance to go out for a last meal before having kids. In fact I was supposed to, but instead I was in hospital for the last week of my pregnancy and didn't get to. It's much harder nowadays with two. 🙁

Plus even if you do go into labour, as it's your first, you should have enough time to finish your meal. Maybe even have dessert before you need to go to the hospital.

FennelAndOnions · 20/10/2022 13:57

Go! Grab the opportunity while you can. Even if you did just go into labour it would be unlikely you’d need to rush to hospital straight away.

Hatscats · 20/10/2022 14:10

As long as it’s not hours from home I’d go. I did everything as normal until my contractions started, even then I had nearly a full day of them where I just carried on as normal, walking and getting out and about etc.

Vienna92 · 20/10/2022 14:15

Go and enjoy! You’ll be busy enough once the baby is out :)

vegang · 20/10/2022 14:16

It's not like in the films where you suddenly go into labour and your waters break and you give birth immediately

You'd have hours before having to go to hospital usually so you're fine to go for a meal

My labour took 2 days and I went out to pizza express at the beginning of it 😆

Lostoldusername · 20/10/2022 14:27

Are you going to stay house bound now for potentially the next 4 weeks?!
You're being ridiculous, go out and enjoy it.

Jalepenojello · 20/10/2022 14:29

Of course you can go out for food

Houseplantmad · 20/10/2022 14:30

Definitely go, relax and enjoy the treat.

RainbowsMoonbeams · 20/10/2022 14:33

If you feel up to it, go! I will personally be jumping at every opportunity to go out and eat a meal with both hands free whilst I can!

romdowa · 20/10/2022 14:33

If you don't want to go , then you don't have to go. You can not want to go for any reason at all.

Good idea :) I was just hopping on to say go - my DS was 3 weeks early; my waters broke and I hadn’t even packed my hospital bag as was convinced he would be late!

just make sure you’ve packed the bag but go and enjoy :)

BeanieTeen · 20/10/2022 19:03

You are being unreasonable - you can’t just stay at home now for the next two weeks or more, surely. Enjoy a meal out (while you can!)

MissMaple82 · 20/10/2022 19:18

Labour doesn't just start like it does in the movies... its a long drawn out process, I'd go for the meal, nothing bad will happen

CristinaNov182 · 20/10/2022 19:20

Yes, enjoy going out while you can and get plenty of sleep too!

miltonj · 20/10/2022 19:26

Go out! Enjoy. The dr actually 'prescribed' me and husband to go out for our dinner and I went into labour later that night.
Honestly on the off chance that labour starts while you're in labour, you'll still have plenty of time to get to the hospital. It usual starts mild, and waters don't just hush out all over the waiters feet like on TV. Stick your hospital bag in the car if you want to be extra prepared. It will be a loooong 2 weeks (could be up to a month) if you don't go out until the babies born.
