I'm 8.4 weeks pregnant and i'm completley off food 😢 I can just about stomach cheese on crackers or pasta. I usually love food and will eat anything, I have always been a chocoholic but can't even bare the thought of it at the moment. Please say I won't be like this for much longer as I feel so weak. Can anyone tell me when they started to be better please?

It's different for everyone but I didn't start feeling better until about 20 weeks.

Big hugs x

Cuppasoupmonster · 19/10/2022 13:22

Yep I was the same. Plain beige food- I lived off marmite on toast, pasta with grated cheese and digestive biscuits for about 6 weeks. It does pass though, 16 weeks tomorrow and I’m eating more or less normally x

I felt better around 16 weeks.

Just go with what you fancy. Maybe get some lemon fizzy water and sip that in between. Being hungry or thirsty made me feel worse so try not to do that.

Violettaa · 19/10/2022 13:24

Yup. Diet Coke and oatcakes is seeing me through.

Yikes! Oat cakes... you must feel shit!

Sorry to agree with others that it can continue for a while yet. 27 weeks here and my lunch just consisted of a pitta with potato waffles and cheese inside. I can atleast cook other things for my family now (I just can't actually eat it) didn't cook anything until I was around 18 weeks though as I had such aversions.

RoHol83 · 19/10/2022 14:05

Thank you all. So a while to go yet 😔 I miss food so much. I'm just managing a few sips of lucazade to keep my glucose up a bit. It's just so hard. On my first I could eat much more than this but suppose every pregnancy is different and my first was 20 years ago (yes I must be mad 😅)

Did you have nausea or sickness too?

Second trimester this time, earlier with my first and second - around 13 weeks.

I'm 23 weeks and fine now but still have aversions. They were really bad at the beginning though. Just thinking about pizza, chicken, burgers or anything meaty/greasy made me gag.

Yourteaisgettingcold · 19/10/2022 14:29

With both my pregnancies I've felt better around the 12/13 week mark.

Northtosouth · 19/10/2022 16:03

In a similar boat at the moment. I don’t fancy anything , I’ve been living off toast and crackers but luckily craving fruit. I don’t even feel sick anymore I just can’t stand the thought of food. Hope it passes for you soon.

With my first pregnancy I had aversions to red meat and cups of tea, it didn’t disappear until I gave birth unfortunately.

Im 35 weeks with baby no.2 and haven’t had any aversions this time around. It’s quite the opposite eating everything in sight!

Was you being sick too or did you just have nausea?

Red meat made me sick. I remember being in a Greek restaurant and they brought my meal out and I had to rush to be sick - gutted as it was my favourite meal. The thought of a cup of tea just made me nauseous. But straight after I gave birth and they brought me tea and toast, I drank the tea no problem.

GeorgiaP88 · 19/10/2022 20:01

I went off of all foods until around 24 weeks. I didn’t want to eat and the thought of food made me actually heave, much to my partners sadness as we’re both foodie people! I was never sick but felt sick for 70% of every day and eventually the food adversions lifted and I’ve been fine since! Although curry and burgers and chicken still make me feel sick 😂

raffika · 19/10/2022 21:34

I’m 10w5d and whilst the nausea has come and gone, the food aversions have been consistent. Im not the most adventurous eater and a huge proportion of my diet is off the menu. I’m getting by on toast, cream crackers, plain pasta, ready salted crisps and nice or ginger snap biscuits. Smiley faces or similar were okay but got scrubbed off the menu yesterday.

my husband is unimpressed, he’s very pro healthy eating so is concerned at the lack of nutritional value in my diet, but the midwife told him it’s fine, so not much he can say! I’m clinging on to the hope it will pass in a couple of weeks.

purplemama1990 · 20/10/2022 16:40

I'm almost 9 weeks and my list of things I can manage to eat is slowly getting shorter and shorter every day... whenever I eat something, it usually becomes something I don't want to eat again. Toast is about the only thing I can manage at the moment, and just barely. I'm counting down the days to 12 weeks, because I THINK that's when I started getting my appetite back a little bit last time. Hang in there, and it will be over soon hopefully!!

HiKelsey · 20/10/2022 16:48

Have you managed to keep food down?

I was given anti sickness / nausea tablets with DD because I got dehydrated due to hyperemesis gravidarium.

I got sick of Dr's telling me to try ginger biscuits and ginger tea 🙄 I actually lived off takeaway salad for the first 6 months of pregnancy alongside regular hospital trips to treat the dehydration.

Hope you're feeling better soon they say between 12-16 weeks the nausea gets better
