Seem to have food aversion to nearly all types of foods and the only things that aren't disgusting me are ham sandwiches, plain mashed potatoes and plain white rice, heinz chicken soup with bread and heinz tomato soup even the smell of anything else makes me want to vomit oh and also fruitella sweets aren't disgusting to me either just wondering how long will it be till I can eat my favourite foods again this is My first pregnancy

It really depends.

With one of mine I was still off sausages all the way through.

Floralnomad · 16/10/2022 21:31

I had hyperemesis with both pregnancies and with the first all I ate from 4 weeks to delivery were Jacket potatoes with butter and cheesy wotsits.

Whitepouringglue · 16/10/2022 21:32

I couldn't eat chicken for years.

But just the first 14 weeks for most things.

Redpriestandmozart · 16/10/2022 21:35

I couldn't eat ripe bananas for about ten years, still can't bear the smell 30 years on!

Rosegold3112 · 16/10/2022 21:37

Totally depends. With my first pregnancy I totally went off chicken and didn't really want to eat it again until after baby was born. This time round I'm 11 weeks and foods I couldn't stomach the thought of a few weeks ago don't seem to turn my stomach now (although that's just the idea of them, I haven't actually gone through with eating any yet 😂)
I've got early gestational diabetes and so typically all the foods that would be good for me to eat such as meats, cheese and creams have made my stomach turn and foods that would be totally bad for my BGL are all I can think about like pasta and toast 😭😭

Dal8257 · 16/10/2022 21:46

Had aversions to most foods and, like you, could only stomach a few very specific things. This lasted up until about 12-13 weeks. After that there were still some things I just couldn’t stand to eat (or smell) but mostly returned to normal.

Riceyyyy · 16/10/2022 21:47

@Rosegold3112 I am also disgusted by the thought of meat 😭 I'm just glad I haven't gone off the chicken or tomato soup as they're My favourite soups but I can only eat them if I fancy them which isn't that often I've mainly just been fancying ham sandwiches and toast.

@Dal8257 I really hope this is the case for me because how will I live the rest of my life having aversions to most foods, can't even stomach the thought of any fruits at all or vegetables and usually I eat alot 😭

@Riceyyyy the first trimester is so hard, I found its mostly about surviving more than anything else. With my DD I found what I fancied day to day would change and I spent most of the day feeling hungry but not at the same time. I'd then get a small window of opportunity to eat in the early eve but if I took too long to cook then I'd feel sick again by the time my food was ready 😩 honestly it's such a foreign feeling as I'm definitely a foodie! How far along are you? All I can think about is a ham and pickle sandwich now 🤤 compiling a list of foods I'm eating as soon as baby is here...

BookHermitBlack · 16/10/2022 21:52

My eldest is 18 and I still can't eat certain foods!
I was sick from 5 weeks to giving birth with both pregnancies but within a couple of hours of birth I was eating and everything tasted so much better (even hospital food!)

EcoCustard · 16/10/2022 21:55

I used to love a ginger nut biscuit, couldn’t stomach the smell or taste when pregnant with Dc1 with HG or after. 8 years later and I still gag when I buy them for Dh & the kids.

yerdaindicatesonbends · 16/10/2022 21:57

My food aversions lasted the entirety of my pregnancy unfortunately. Even the thought of chocolate was horrifying. The only thing I looked forward to was my husband doing a roast each week. Like I would literally think about it all week and eat the bare minimum the rest of the time which included peanut butter sandwiches (had to be smooth).

I’ve just clicked that even now when I know I’m going to have a roast dinner I cannot stop thinking about it! Must be a left over from pregnancy!

Booksandwine80 · 16/10/2022 21:58

I went off all veg except carrots and peas for the whole pregnancy. Also couldn’t stomach roast potatoes 😳so “roast” dinners were meat, mashed potato peas and carrots. Nothing else weirdly, but I did crave cake 🤣

Apollonia1 · 16/10/2022 21:59

I love pizza and crisps, but went completely off them during pregnancy!
The smell of cheese and onions crisps made me feel sick. The aversion lasted all through pregnancy - I lost lots of weight.

Once I gave birth, I was back enjoying them again.

alotoftutus · 16/10/2022 21:59

I'm 18 weeks and my diet is ridiculously restricted. Plain white rice with quorn pieces and soy sauce, roast potatoes with salt, white toast with butter and pizza. Can't touch any meat or fish, can sometimes manage frozen veg in my rice and soy sauce, but can't manage fresh veg, only fruit I can tolerate are grapes. Can't drink water - only squash 🤦🏽‍♀️ cooking healthy meals for everyone else kills me because of the smells, but I don't want my kids living off the crap I am.
Hoping it doesn't last too much longer.

Riceyyyy · 16/10/2022 22:04

@Rosegold3112 I am 9 weeks and I have found that the day I turned 9 weeks my sickness got 100x worse and so did my food aversions I went from feeling extreme nausea, and vomiting once in the morning and once in the evening, to still have extreme nausea 24/7 but also vomiting everytime I eat or drink, also started getting headaches and very bad heartburn, so I have been sucking ice cubes and nibbling on toast all day, but I will say I can now add another thing to the list of things that appeal to me and that's munch bunch just saw my nephew eat one so I ate one and omg it was so delicious let's hope I don't throw it up lol

@alotoftutus luckily I don't have any kids to cook for, usually I would cook every night anyway but latly I can't stomach the thought of cooking because one I feel too nauseous to even stand for very long and two the thought of cutting up veg and meats is so revolting to Me that I can't even imagine anything more disgusting glad I'm not the only one tho I've never seen any of my friends or family have food aversions when pregnant or if they did I didn't notice

The whole pregnancy for most things e.g sausages 🤢 but for others it's gone on for years and counting.. just had third baby (3 weeks old) and just getting to grips with food again. And all three pregnancies were very different in terms of what I could and couldn't stomach. Goodluck OP

Rosegold3112 · 17/10/2022 09:29

@Riceyyyy that's tough, I'm so sorry you're getting so sick. If it helps I read somewhere peak morning sickness is usually around 9-10 weeks so although you're in the thick of it now, really hoping there's a light at the end of the tunnel! Mine trailed off around 7 weeks then returned for a little around 9-10 but now I don't really feel sick at all, although maybe that's a bad sign 🙈 got my 12 week scan this Thurs so will find out soon

AriettyHomily · 17/10/2022 09:38

15 years on I still can't eat a 'wet' curry. Things like tikka are fine, but I couldn't eat eg a madras. 😢

Numbat2022 · 17/10/2022 09:46

Mine lasted all pregnancy (mainly sugar, eggs and green vegetables/salad) - only eggs lasted after I'd given birth. That one took about two years to go. But I lived on beige carbs all pregnancy. Definitely worst around week 9/10 (I remember spending those two weekends in bed), so this may be the worst of it for you.
