Fair rides in early pregnancy

Just found out I'm pregnant (about 4 weeks), taking my daughter to the fair next week. Is it safe to go on rides? Not upside down spinny ones, but the waltzers for example?

I had no idea that I was pregnant with either dc at that stage. I went on fair rides, skiing holidays, in hot tubs, ate pate, blue cheese etc.

waltzers spin you round but don’t bump you about so I’d go for it.

I did all of this at 28 weeks this summer. Wasn't throwing myself upside down on the nemesis but the tea cups yes.

I did a couple of weeks ago at 12w, the signs all say rides not suitable for pregnant women but I guess that's for the risk of the safety bar that on a lot of rides goes across the tummy so might bump the bump. I felt happy to go on the gentler rides like flying elephants and tea cups but probably wouldn't if I had a bigger bump or was further along, but personally quite happy in early pregnancy. And there was no queue either for the rides we went on. Enjoy your day whatever you decide!

When I was about 8 weeks pregnant I went on a skiing holiday. My doctor told me that my baby was protected by my pelvis at that stage so it was safe to ski. I’m not sure if that is medically correct but I decided to ski as normal and although I got tired walking to the ski lift, I enjoyed the holiday.

I took a trip with my daughter to Disney during implantation time and we went on many rides I ended up with an ectopic I found out a month later.. I know your already pregnant but I really do think they were the cause of my ectopic as I was quite stressed on some of the fast / scary ones so probably best to avoid ride and stay relaxed :)

I'm no expert but I don't think that's how it works Lily - it's just one of those things in nature, not something caused by your actions.

My first pregnancy I did nothing at all and miscarried in my second trimester out of the blue. My second pregnancy I went on holiday and did so many activities (water park, rides, quad bikes, long haul flights etc), all in my first trimester too. Second I carried to term and had a healthy baby. As long as you're careful I think you'll be fine on the lesser rides. I also went rides at 16 weeks but very basic ones and again no issues. This pregnancy I've known from very early on and generally taken it easy but a lot of it comes to just being careful and not taking too many risks.

I went to Orlando when I was 6 weeks and went on literally everything at Disney/Universal - now 29 weeks and baby is doing great.

I didn't know I was pregnant at the time and obviously if I'd have known I'd have avoided the more intense rollercoasters. But I wouldn't worry about going on the smaller rides

CatHatSat · 17/10/2022 05:55

I wouldn’t, if a trampoline is not advised then I can’t imagine a fairground ride would be any better. The tea cups maybe.

theydontspeakforus · 17/10/2022 06:21

No way I'd go on the waltzers pregnant. Tea cups yes. Waltzers, absolutely not.

I went on a fair grounds ride at 22 weeks it was a kids ride a balloon shaped ride going round and round mid air and going quite fast. I did regret going in it and wouldn't recommend it. Not worth the risk.
