How do people cope with sickness? Ive not been sick yet but the nausea is killing me, i have a severe phobia of feeling/being sick. I have been prescribed metoclopramide but even too scared to take that incase it makes me sick 🤦🏼‍♀️
I'm earing dry few and some fruit, drinking water, weak squash and lemonade which does help but I'm only 6 weeks and I don't think I can cope if it gets worse 😭
My twin had HG which is also making me panic!

Any advice or anything I will appreciate 🙂

Sorry if this is dramatic compared to anyone else's experience

Hey,
I’m around 7-8 weeks and have had bad sickness and bad nausea since week 4-5. I’ve been off work for the past two weeks and had cyclizine and now on a stronger anti sickness temporarily.
The only thing that has helped me has been taking the tablets and resting as much as possible.

I’ve also tried to keep cool and this has helped me too. I’ve found my temperature has been higher in general since being pregnant.

It really is awful - there’s a post on here called hyperemesis support too. I haven’t been diagnosed with it, but it has had some helpful recommendations for dealing with sickness in pregnancy. There’s also a pregnancy support group with resources at this website and could be helpful if you have a phobia and need specialist advice or reassurance - www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

I’ve also been using travel sickness bands, and my partner bought me some preggie pop sweets - the sourness is meant to help with the nausea. It really is awful and you’re not alone. I didn’t realise how bad it could be - this is my first pregnancy.

Hoping it eases off soon! I really would try to take the tablets, and let them build up in your system. Otherwise, maybe contact your midwife/ GP again to ask for an alternative.

I really struggled with nausea in early pregnancy - I'm not phobic of vomiting, but I've got a lot of anxiety around it and really really hate it. I also had meds from the GP (cyclizine) and found them really helpful in getting me through it - they didn't take it away completely but for me they took away the added anxiety of vomiting.
Got through it without vomiting thankfully, so it's definitely possible, and mine had started by 5 weeks!

Travel sickness bands really helped me.

I’m currently 7 weeks and also phobic of vomiting. This is my second pregnancy and I managed to get through my first first trimester without vomiting, even though I felt sick almost every day. I feel very nauseous at the moment and am also worrying about how I’m going to cope getting through the next few weeks - you’re not alone! I wouldn’t feel worried about taking the metaclopromide, I’ve had that many times in the past and it works/hasn’t made me feel sicker.
There is also an app - Nevasic - which you listen to with headphones. It plays different tones in your ears and helps reduce nausea. You have to use it consistently but I found it really helps.
