Sudden increase in movement?

Hi all,

FTM here and suffering with anxiety so apologies if I am just being paranoid (we unfortunately suffered a miscarriage last year so are very nervous!)

I am 27 weeks tomorrow haven't been 100% I've felt movement. I do have an anterior placenta and my midwife isn't concerned at all.
I also mentioned the movement- they did say they'll try get me in for a movement scan but I haven't heard anything yet.

The movement I "think" I have felt is similar to popping/ twitching. Like having a trapped nerve but not as rapid. I have assumed this is movement.

Today, I've felt it a lot more, at one point being able to catch one on video. Again, similar to having a trapped nerve and twitching. He did have a quiet period for a few hours but not too long.

Now, I've got in my head that the sudden increase in movement is a bad thing.
Most info online say "no such thing as two much movement" but there's the occasional article about cord strangulation/ seizures that have got me worried!

Has anyone any advice/ experiences?

Thank you so much in advance

Hi @crazybunnyladyy! When I was pregnant with my first, I experienced the same. I went in to be checked over and was told that the old advice used to be for reduced movements only, however the advice now is that any change in movements (to what you consider to be typical), you should get seen to. I really felt bad and thought I was wasting their time but the hospital were great and really reassuring that I was doing the right thing!

I'd say if you feel concerned, definitely get checked out for your own peace of mind. ❤️

Congratulations by the way! And hope all is well.

You need to phone and get checked. And any future movement questions just phone straight away and skip the asking mumsnet bit! Stuff like this is best for medical professionals only.

As above, if you're worried please ring the ward.
However, if you've only just started feeling movement, it could just be you're noticing it more because you now know what you're looking for if you get me x

The advice I was always given was any change in movement so that's increased and decreased. At 27 weeks there's not a regular pattern as such but it never hurts to get checked x

Thanks all for your messages.

I rang our triage number we have for concerns and they've said to monitor but from symptoms etc. just likely him settling into a movement pattern and starting to feel him more now he's bigger.

Thanks again for your help!
