Maternity Bras

Hi
This is my first pregnancy so learning as I go! I am 4 months pregnant and my bras are getting too small for me. Do I buy a new maternity bra now or wait as long as possible so I don't have to buy one size now and another size in a few months? Any advice? Will I get much bigger?

Also, where do I shop to get measured for a maternity bra?

Any advice welcome as this is all so new to me.

I measured myself and bought one at around 5-6 months from M&S which is still fitting fine now, I topped up with some cheaper bras from Asda like you I have no idea how big they’re going to get I’m 4 weeks away from birth now so hoping these last me

You shouldn't wear underwire once pregnant so most maternity/nursing bras are sports/soft types and sold in s/m/l by dress size rather than cup so you shouldn't need to be measured. I like the h&m ones, and tend to just buy nursing and wear them pregnancy and after to get the most wear out of them x

I would go cheap for now. After you give birth your breasts will balloon up as your milk kicks in but will eventually go back to a reasonable size. Hubby was cracking jokes about me having torpedoes on my chest. Wait until your breasts settle down before getting something nicer. There are nursing pads you can get to stick in your non nursing bras to help with the milk leakage but those didn't work for me.

I can't give any particular recommendations for shops for you but I did find it worth it to eventually get professionally fitted for a good bra. If you are naturally well endowed especially it is better to get it done from a local specialty shop not a chain. Chains like Victoria's Secret (they don't sell maternity bras anyways) will not give you the fit you need and for the first time ever I finally have a comfortable bra that fits and just makes me look better.

I am at the stage where nursing is slowly coming to the end though, so I don't see my size changing too much, but I still wish I got the fitting sooner.

If you want a recommendation I found bravado bras were great through all the stages of my previous pregnancy and nursing and I'm wearing the same ones now I'm pregnant again so they've worn/ washed well. The size guide worked for me.

I've been wearing the bralettes from Primark that have the padded removable cups and they're so comfortable. They're 3 for £10-12.

From recommendation I like the Anita nursing bra which they offer wireless options and Elomi. I will be buying more for my next pregnancy. My local shop highly recommends hand washing them, but it is probably a good idea to hand wash your bras anyways especially if you are spending a little more on them. Still getting some cheapies though especially for at night and lounging around the house.

You will be waking up in a pool of milk if you are not wearing a nursing bra. Don't waste the good bras for at night. Being at the end of the nursing stage this is not an issue for me anymore, but I never wore bras to bed until I was nursing.

if you don’t need too much support, just go for Primark.
If you’re going to breastfeed. Hotmilk bras are the best. Measure yourself.
For sleeping, medela sleep bra. Got mine off Amazon. Easy enough to slip pads in, and soft for sleeeping. Just pull to the side for feeding

I bought some cheap multipack things from Matalan at about 16 weeks that I've used the whole way through, and am going to go and get measured up and invest in some decent nursing bras once baby has arrived I think!

I love my seraphine bamboo ones. Also love that they're S M L so plenty of space either side

I also switched to padded bralettes during pregnancy - thankfully I'm small busted so don't need a ton of support. They've got plenty of room for growth and I'm planning to get maternity bras closer to the end!
