Booked induction - can I change to c section?

I am booked for an induction a week today (at 38 +3) after going to a presentation scan last week and baby measuring big (7lbs 15oz) sonographer immediately sent me to maternity assessment to chat to a consultant (not mine, I’ve never met mine as pregnancy as been straight forward)
consultant came in mentioning big baby (repeatedly), emcs likely and shoulders getting stuck and diabetes (never been diagnosed) and delivery was required between 38 and 39 weeks.
induction was hastily booked after 5 min chat, and I was sent away with a glucose monitor.
im feeling a bit overwhelmed tbh and want to speak to someone properly about my options and the more I’ve been left to think on it, the more I would like a planned section. Who can I ask about getting this changed? I’m not even sure who to contact? I don’t have a midwife (I’ve seen a different one at every appt…) and no idea how to contact a consultant?

thanks.

Can you try and call the consultant and say you refuse the induction and want a planned section instead??

Personally I'd do neither as my son was predicted 10lb and I was being pressured into induction at 38/39/40 weeks. My son was born at 7.1lbs. He was predicted to be 8lb at 38 weeks. Growth scans are notorious for being off. An induction can be extremely painful and cause complications during delivery if done before baby is due and c section is major abdominal surgery requiring weeks of recovery. I'd try and speak to a third party.

Do you have a contact number for your midwives, even a central number?

I had an induction just over a month ago, was told the same, big baby, risk of shoulder dystocia etc, I was in for six days for the induction process and they kept telling me the negatives, I asked if I should opt for a c section and they were zero help with any guidance, so I spent the week quite conflicted. I didn't have a section in the end and DD was 7lbs 9oz.... Part of me wishes I'd pushed for the c section and the other was grateful for a straightforward recovery. If you're unsure, speak to the midwife to sort a consultant appointment, or ring your triage number for a number you can call to go through the options.
