Hi everyone I’m 21 weeks pregnant . Haven’t got another appointment until 25 ish weeks with midwife . Is it best to ring the gp and get my whooping cough and flu jab before my next appointment. Did anyone get there’s through the gp and not midwife? Thanks in advance

Our maternity unit advertised drop in clinics where you could just turn up and get it done? Was all advertised on their website / social media.

I got the flu jab with the covid booster at an appointment made with the NHS vaccination clinics (I work in care). I got the whooping cough vaccine off my midwife....I'm sure around week 29.

We do them - gp surgery

Eagtess3 · 09/10/2022 21:11

@YorkshireTeaCup I vaguely remember that with my daughter is was offered them at a scan which m assuming was 20 weeks but could have been my 28 week scan .

Thankyou so much for replying xx

I had to book mine with the GP surgery.

Flu I got done from work (healthcare). Whooping cough was done by appointment with GP nurse. Though they did also offer flu at the same time.

Gp practice nurse. The midwives did tell me there was supposed to be immunisations available at the ultrasound clinic but they were never there when I went

Buttons0x · 09/10/2022 21:19

I've just had both of mine, only booked the whopping cough- had to do this with a nurse at my GP and she offered me the flu one while I was there Xx

RagzRebooted · 09/10/2022 21:21

Some areas give it through the antenatal service, either at scan appointments or midwife. Ours doesn't, you have to book it the GP surgery (from 16 weeks min, ideally 20).

You can book your flu jab online with boots if that helps get one sorted. Just tick that you're pregnant and the system let's you through to book.

Has my whooping cough after a scan at the main hospital rather than my community midwife. They were also offering covid vaccinations but I had my flu jab at boots.

I had my 25 week appointment with the midwife today and she offered both flu and whooping cough jabs there and then.
Caught me by surprise.

I'm 26 weeks and had flu jab & whooping cough jab at the GP surgery with a nurse this week. One in each arm! Nice to get them done and out of the way. Phone your GP surgery and see if they can do it for you.

AutumnScream · 12/10/2022 17:39

The practice nurse at my gp did mine last week. Im 19 weeks.

Bells3032 · 12/10/2022 17:44

Whooping cough did at my mat unit. They apparently often do them at the 20 week scan but I had mine at a satalite hospital so booked it in later. My flu jab I actually had 4 days beforehand at boots (for free). Would reccomend a bit more a of a gap lol

decafsoyaflatwhite · 12/10/2022 17:50

I had my whooping cough one at a drop in clinic at the maternity hospital after one of my scans/appointments. I think it must have been the 28 week one as I’m fairly certain my partner wasn’t with me.

I had the flu jab for free at a local pharmacy- I don’t think they even asked for proof that I was pregnant.

I didn’t see a GP at all during my pregnancy!

Iizzyb · 12/10/2022 18:04

Nurse at the GP's surgery did them all x
