Constant nausea but no vomiting

7 weeks and feel constantly nauseous. When I'm hungry, as soon as I eat anything, when I look at a screen, when I wake up.

I never ever vomit though so no sense of relief. I've found mints sometimes help and ginger tea but not sure what else to try?

It's fine when I'm at home working but I have to go into office a few times this month and not sure how I'll fare. My appetite is very changeable and like a fussy child - don't feel like anything except a few very specific foods - burgers, toast with butter, fromage frais and orange juice 😂

Sorry to say but I didn’t find anything that helped 😞I had this from about 6/7 weeks until 15-16, the only thing that helped a tiny bit was eating, but the nausea would come back within half an hour of stopping. I’m blaming that on why I gained so much weight!

I wasn’t physically sick once, just that constant feeling. Hopefully others may have more helpful suggestions as I really struggled! It will pass though ♥️eventually

I’m 6+4 with DC#2 and know exactly what you mean!

I feel nauseated all day and nothing relieves it. I feel hungry but immediately don’t want whatever I’m eating.

I had exactly the same thing with DS from 6 weeks. I got to the point I had to lie down all day because even sitting up was too much.

The best foods for me are acidic fruits (grapefruit in particular) and toast. With DS I wore sea bands on my wrists which helped a little.

I’m holding on to the hope that it disappears at about 11 weeks like it did with DS!

Grapes seemed to help with my first and anything bubblegum flavoured (laces, bottles 🤪). I was also sick every morning though then nauseous all day. Sorry to say mine lasted until 36 weeks with my first (started at 5) and my waters went at 36w4d so not much relief.

Second pregnancy was far worse until 24w, only lasted until 32w then died down into background nausea.

stormelf · 09/10/2022 20:52

I was like this with my second. Only thing that seemed that help was sucking on mints

Twiggywinkle13 · 09/10/2022 20:58

You have my sympathy! I’m 14 weeks now but was the same basically from when I found out until about 10 weeks. I found eating very regularly even when I didn’t want to helped a bit, fingers crossed it’ll pass asap xx

BonesOfWhatYouBelieve · 09/10/2022 20:59

Mints, ice lollies, Granny Smith apples, and salt and vinegar crisps helped with mine. But even though I was never sick, I had such bad nausea I was given anti sickness tablets and they did help a bit as well.

ItsJustASimpleLine · 09/10/2022 21:06

I had this. I treated myself to a can of full sugar coke once a day around 11 until the nausea subsided. I had to sacrifice other caffeine but it was worth it for the temporary relief.

ItsNotReallyChaos · 09/10/2022 21:10

I had horrible nausea from around 7 weeks to 30 weeks ish. It took weeks of it before I was confident that I wasn't actually going to throw up.

The thing that helped the most was to eat very very often, even if a tiny amount. On top of three meals a day, I would eat half an oat cake every half an hour between meals. I deliberately chose oatcakes with a tiny bit of sugar in them for a quick hit but that still were only just ok as a snack on their own. If I'd carried nice appealing snacks around I would have been doomed to massively overeating.

Thanks everyone for your advice! Today I've been munching on dried mango in addition to mints and seems to have done the trick

Sip a cold can of Coke all day. Sip every time you feel the nausea.

Garman · 10/10/2022 09:19

That's normal, I get nausea for the 9 months but no vomiting. FYI though the nausea vomiting doesnt usually give relief, because it's hormonal/digestive not a bug or food poisioning that your body can get rid of.

ladycarlotta · 10/10/2022 09:34

I was like this with my first. Like feeling constantly horribly travel sick, rather than ever throwing up? My first trimester was during the summer so I lugged a gigantic cup of ice around with me everywhere I went 😅the other thing that helped me were cans of flavoured sparkling water like La Croix.
For me it did go away around 16 weeks.

biscuitcat · 10/10/2022 09:43

I has this with my first pregnancy - pregnant again now and still nauseous, though not as bad as the first time round luckily! What helps for me is a glass of water with a generous amount of lemon or lime juice (not squash) in it - should be a bit sour but not quite bad enough to make you wince - and that usually gives me a decent amount of relief (as does eating but I'm trying not to do that the whole time!!)

ObviouslyNotAMandy · 10/10/2022 09:44

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this. I had hideous hyperemesis and vomiting bought no relief whatsoever. It's not like having a bug here you feel better after good puke, I only felt better the day i gave birth! (but I was an extreme case) All the best for your pregnancy xx

GAW19 · 10/10/2022 09:44

Sips of lemonade was the only thing that helped with both of mine Smile

TheSausageKingofChicago · 10/10/2022 09:45

I ate gingernuts. Seemed to help.

I was the same, although I did also vomit sometimes, if I was hungry or from certain smells.
Eating high calorie foods regularly was the only thing that kept it at bay. Avoiding scent triggers where possible helped slightly . My worst ones were printing ink (newspapers and some magazines ), rice cooking, petrol, and also strong artificial scents like those highly fragranced washing powders.
It is horrible OP, even typing about this is making me feel slightly green, 15 years later !! It does get a bit less intense later on, I had it all the way through but it was slightly less grim in the last trimester. Some people find it stops at 16 weeks.
