Hey everyone,
I hope your all well.
So I'm not currently pregnant but we are possibly planning on trying after new year. I have a son who will be 2 in January and a son who is 12 in December and a stepson who is 11. My question is
My pregnancy with my 2 year old was awful at the start, I found out very early I was pregnant and from 5 weeks I had awful awful nausea with no sickness. It was more smells than anything. It was so bad I was pretty much bed bound for some weeks. Now I could still eat certain foods and I could still drink water, I remember I did get much better at around 14 weeks. I did also suffer with a bout of depression between week 6 and about week 16. Now looking back it was in the middle of a pandemic, I couldn't see anyone and hospital appointments were spars. Now I'm not taking away the fact the nausea was horrendous but I'm wondering because of the pandemic and not going out and not being able to see anyone, is that what make me bed ridden. Anyway sorry for rambling. I'm just really worried now having a 2 year old would or is it possible to get through the horrible first trimester nausea? Has anyone managed to do this? I also work, luckily I was furlough around thr time I got pregnant so I could just be in bed all day. I would love to give my son a brother or sister and time is ticking as my husband is 41 and he's made it clear he feels old to have another one but I think next year would be our only shot. I do have some sort of support from family but not enough for me to be able to stop.
Thank you for reading and I'm sorry it was so long
Charlotte x

My pregnancy with DS was hell, I was so unwell, lost like 4 stone and couldn't do anything. I'm currently 10 weeks and hardly any symptoms! I think it just totally depends each time. All the best x

I had horrible morning sickness with all of mine from week 5 (more reliable than a test tbh) until week 25/26.

The first time I was given tablets to manage as I couldn't keep anything down. After that I managed by constantly eating/drinking something. Little bits or sips seemed to keep it more at bay so I was able to function.

I did struggle at times. There was a period of four days where I couldn't even be upright without being nauseous and I had two toddlers. (No family support available, DH had a stressful job with inflexible hours so wasn't available either.) I made snacks and took toys into my room and they played on the floor next to my bed. It was pretty horrendous and I felt like a rubbish mum but none of them remember it at all!

I found if I stayed ahead of the nausea then I was able to function. GP was very sympathetic and quick to help, thankfully.

I have an absolutely paralysing fear of being sick or feeling nauseated (why I thought getting pregnant would be sensible I couldn't say!) but I went to the doctors almost as soon as I found out, explained the situation, and was prescribed cyclizine to help with the panic and anxiety that sickness causes me.
I would absolutely do the same in a future pregnancy and would recommend the same here - when you get pregnant, if you're worried about the sickness and how to handle it, speak to your doctor proactively and ask for medication to help you through it.
Wishing you all the best OP Smile
