Hi everyone.

I recently started maternity leave and received some vouchers from my colleagues. As this is our third boy we already have all the essentials as well as a lot of blue clothes still in lovely condition.

So I was thinking about getting a baby swing. I just wondered of those of you who had one of these, whether you found it useful, which swings are good and between what ages you could use it? I've seen some swings which say they are suitable up to 13kg but would a baby sit in one up to that age?

Thank you

Mine did sit in one at that age 9and 13kgs for my ds3 was older than mostas he had low birth weight)

Found it invaluable with 2 under 14 months, but they did like it regardless

I had a Fisher price one, it was the Flutterbye dreams full size one. I found it a pain tbh, it ws hard to get baby in and out of, he was bored quite quickly though did sleep in it a few times - but it didnt send him to sleep! He had to be put in it already asleep.
The toys were boring to him and he couldn't reach them. I sold it on...

DS loved his but I over used it I think the definately contributed to his flat head (resolved now).

I will use it again with the next one but will limit the time spent in it.

Had the fisher price take a long one by the way

Can someone post a link to a swing for me please. All I can seem to find is little seats that bounce with a babe in it!

Thank you.

Didn't have one for dd but did for ds, and I'm so glad I did!

It seemed to be the only place where he would settle, even though only for a short while. He didn't sleep in it, but he was quiet for a little while without me having to carry him. I will DEFINATELY be using ours again!

Also, got one as a present for my brother and sil last year. SIL later told me that she'd been dubious because of the size, but found it a godsend - again somewhere where the baby was settled for a short while without permanently being in your arms.

Here is an example....

We have the Fisher Price aquarium take along swing and I honestly think it was well worth the money. Both ds1 and ds2 loved it and even now at 9 months old ds2 is still using it for an hour before bedtime.
I do however know lots of other children who hated them,so maybe if you can,try borrowing one from a friend first, just to see if your lo likes it,save wasting any money.
