Hi everyone,
A momma to be here, expecting my first baby in 3 months so in week 26 right now. I have an anterior placenta. I started feeling movements around week 22-23 and felt them quite a lot for the first 1,5-2 weeks. After that they decreased a lot and right now I just feel vague movement maybe 4-8 times a day. Have been checked out several times due to worry and baby has always been fine.
On all my ultrasounds she seem like a pretty chill baby, sucking her thumb and yawning mostly, no crazy kicking around.

Anyone else who have experienced/experience this? I get so fed up with being worried but it has started to decrease since she's always been fine on all checks.
But it feels like everyone talks about their baby moving ALL THE TIME that I feel pretty lonely experiencing this.

Okay, don’t worry!

First dd felt from 20 weeks loads and loads every day.

Twins, kick at 16 weeks, nothing until 22 weeks, and whole way no where near as much movement! Weird to think two in there.

first daughter, very hard work, twins much more chilled out as babies…

First baby moved a lot both before and after birth. If you share a bed with her now aged 5 she’ll kick you all night long.
Second baby very relaxed, a few stretches each evening but not much more, several traces for reduced movement where they agreed he was too still and kept me in. But he is just the most relaxed tranquil contented person. He’s active when he wants to play but cuddles for hours on the sofa.

I had anterior placenta with my pregnancy to. I remember feeling anxious and a bit sad that I couldn't feel her moving much.

She was and is nornally physically active as a baby and child. But she is has an extremely loud voice (currently listening to her sing K-pop songs from the other end of the house!).

Anterior placenta both times -

Dc1 - very still, constantly in for reduced movement. Even when I called labour ward to let them know contractions had stated they asked if movements were ok and I said I couldn't feel any!

DC2 could well be descended from Michael flatley. I am booked for my section next week and they have walloped every single sonographer / midwife / consultant that has touched my bump and spend 80% of the day dancing on my cervix. I'm glad they are this way around as I worried enough about dc1 not loving enough, having this experience first would have had me permanently Hooked up to a monitor!!

It's taught me some babies move less and others much more. It's a cliche but try and work out what is normal for you and your baby and then flag straight away when it deviates from that - they would rather monitor you every day than miss something!

Thanks for these answers! It's a good feeling knowing that I'm not alone. I have a thorough ultrasound scheduled this friday (to check growth, she's a SUA baby meaning only 1 artery instead of 2 in the cord so they keep extra track of growth) so I will get to see her for longer then and see how she moves..all the previous checks they have just checked heartbeat and 1 quick ultrasound which where all fine. Just wish she could give me a liiiitle bit more movement so I can get rid of all worry but yeah hoping my reward later for all this worry is a super chill kid lol

My pregnancy was like this, some days I’d only feel him after making an effort to. I relaxed after a few checks and felt and saw more movement during the later stages. DS has more than made up for it since.

I felt about 100 movements an hour sometimes with my first pregnancy. He was very, very active and I had a posterior placenta.

Im currently 39+5 with an anterior placenta and it’s so different this time. Some days I’m not even sure if I’ve felt baby move at all by the evening but that’s normal for me in this pregnancy. I’ve had 4 scans and monitoring and baby has been fine every time.

Try not to compare to other people’s experiences - even my own pregnancies have been wildly different. Trust your instincts and always get checked out if you’re worried but if it’s normal for you try not to worry too much x

Felt I needed to do an update in case anyone finds this thread being worried about having very few movements!

Had an ultrasound check last week and everything looked good. Baby active but not doing huge movements so the ones she did I could not feel due to the anterior placenta. Just like earlier ultrasounds she was also must chilling sucking her thumb lol.

Yesterday I had not felt her at all again for 24 hours so went in for a check. As soon as the CTG touched my belly she kicked about 12 times within 2 minutes, this has also happened now several times! Seems like she gets annoyed by the energy from the machine so it gets ger going.

My conclusions: The combination of an anterior placenta and very chill baby seems to be it when it comes to movements for my baby. It is normal for me to sometimes not feel a thing for almost 24 hours. She has more active days, usually if she's had a more active one it will be super chill for several days after.
There are no indicators whatsoever that something is wrong with her.
Therefore I shall now try and cut out all worries regarding this and hopefully receive a very chill babygirl soon!

Wanted to post this update cause' I know that what we mostly hear about are all these superwild babies in the womb and that they kick allll the tiiime and so on. Easy to think something is wrong and get super worked up in a situation like mine. But, babies truly are different already in the belly that's for sure!
