So I am 36+5 weeks pregnant and baby has been breech since 34 weeks. I had a midwife appt earlier this week who confirmed baby was still breech and shes booked me for a presentation scan at hospital tomorrow (36+6 weeks).
If baby is still breech (I know every trust is different but just want to gauge peoples experiences) tomorrow will they book my section after the scan?
My next midwife appt isnt until 38+4 so that seems a bit close if it needs scheduled on 39ish weeks?

What have others experiences been like? I've also heard in some trusts you just get a phonecall at some point to book you in?

(I'm going to decline ecv hence when i have went straight to an elcs).

Lastly, if i get my section date and baby turns before that date and my midwife discovers it or whatever then do they cancel it or does it just go ahead?

thanks!

I would imagine they would mention it tomorrow or book it in! If they don’t for whatever reason, I would contact your community midwife and see if they can sort the communication out for you.

I had an ELCS and when it got to 34 or 36 weeks, the community midwife emailed the consultant at the hospital for me so they knew I wanted a review after my growth scan to book it in.

if baby turns, I believe it’s your choice. If baby turns and you want a vaginal birth, it’s absolutely your right to. If baby turns and you still want an ELCS, again it’s absolutely your right to! 😊 good luck! X

Where I am they scan you before you go to theatre for the ELCS and if it has turned you're asked if you want to continue with the caesarean or would prefer to go for a vaginal delivery. I would expect it's similar in most hospitals.

I'd be surprised if that was offered without a scan first though as palpation isn't that accurate (as I have experience of being told my baby was cephalic when it really wasn't!).

They’ll scan you prior to ELCS. If she has turned, they’ll offer to induce you sometimes since they want to know that baby will stay in favourable position.

This. They book you at 38 ish weeks here unless you’ve had prev sections or complications not just for breech then scan to check before going to theatre. I had the opposite, thought breech but scanned head down and engaged. Anterior placenta.

I’m 34+5 and my elective was booked at 32+2 by my consultant when I brought it up there and then I couldn’t actually believe it, she asked me why, I explained and she booked it in front of me and gave me some paper work
