Statutory Maternity Pay

Sorry if this is the wrong topic, but I've just used the government calculator to check if I am eligible for SMP. I'm pretty sure I am based on length of continuous employment, but when I put in my partner has started a new job (in September) no option for SMP comes up.

Is this right? Surely I am still eligible regardless of my partners work status. I've read the eligibility criteria over and over again and there isn't anything about partner's status so I'm a bit confused. Any advice from anyone else navigating the maternity leave/pay process at the moment?

It goes off your date of employment not your partner for SMP

Why does it ask about your partner at all?
SMP eligibility is based on just your circumstances.

If you've worked for at least 26 weeks by the time you are 25 weeks pregnant and have earned the minimum amount per week (£123 I think) then you should qualify for it.

Your partners start date will only effect his eligibility for paternity pay, I was already pregnant when my husband changed jobs so he won't get any paternity pay but as long as you were employed before you fell pregnant you'll get stat mat pay x
