Diarrhoea in pregnancy

Hi,
Sorry if it's TMI but I just wondered if anyone has found they've had a really dodgy stomach/diarhoea in early pregnancy? Particularly early in the morning.
I'm 6 weeks and no actual sickness yet, although I have felt nauseas a lot more in the last week.
I am quite an anxious person so I wasn't sure if it was related to this too.
Just wondered if anyone had similar experiences and if you thought this was normal. Ive got first midwife appointment tomorrow so hopefully this will put my mind at rest too.
Thank you!

Had this with first baby and am now having it with the second. It's horrible isn't it? I find I get diarrhea in the morning and then constipation in the evening. It stopped around 14 weeks for me last time so I am hoping the same will happen this time.

Your midwife will probably refer you to your GP who will do some checks. It's hard not to feel anxious but hopefully the appointment will help. Feel better soon.

I had this too, what worked for me was giving up sweets, diary and coffee. And taking probiotic and prebiotic supplements.
i can eat these again now, but sweets in moderation.

I get this too! I'm 11 weeks and I've had it all throughout! Xx

Oh I'm so glad it's not just me! I thought shouldn't I be throwing up not the other way around! Haha mind you the nausea is horrible too.

I also find the constipation by the end of the day/evening. I have had IBS in the past but it seemed to get a lot better over the year and it seemed much more linked to stress/anxiety. I suppose a great deal is happening to my body. I'll mention it to midwife tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice,
Hopefully it'll pass in time xx

My midwife told me that IBS apparently is meant to ease up during pregnancy which seems really strange because you'd think the opposite! But yeah I've had it quite a bit throughout the last few weeks, and I've had it with nausea as well so that's been fun 😂 I told my midwife about it and she didn't seem concerned! X

I think as long as you're getting hydrated and getting your fluids in then there's no need to worry about it, I think its only a concern if it's all day everyday and you're dehydrated etc x

I got a load of Dioralyte or similar to get me through really bad mornings. Helps me to feel less washed out.

Does anyone know if you're allowed to take immodium during pregnancy? I used to take it if I was particularly worried about a social event and my stomach was kicking off but I've read a lot of contradicting advice online.

@daisychains76 I don't think it's advised! I mean if you're gonna take one I'm sure it's probably ok? But I don't think there's enough evidence to suggest whether it's safe or not but I'm guessing if you're desperate and are only looking at taking one then I wouldn't beat yourself up about it if you think you really need it xxx

Ah no don't worry my stomachs settled enough now, I was hsir curious if it was something I would be able to do in the future if it were a big problem. I'll speak to midwife tomorrow :)

Yep.

Literally in both pregnancies. It comes and goes!

I had this with my first pregnancy. Every time I ate I had to run to the loo. It did get better after the first trimester but never great. I didn't have it with my second though, no idea why!
