Ovulation tests not working with pcos?

Hi,

I have pcos though my cycles are fairly regular (29-33 days usually) and I think I ovulate due to mood changes etc.. that would match a typical cycle. I'm trying for my second child.

I've tried ovulation tests. Some months they show nothing, this month the darkest I have is this faint line attached on day 20 (which seems quite late tbh).

Are ovulation tests always right? Could this faint line indicate ovulation? Has anyone got pregnant without a positive ovulation test?

This looks quite negative.
My lh surge is really short so I need to test 2 to 3 times a day to catch it. Maybe you're missing it?

I usually ovulate day 14 so start to test 3 times a day from about day 11 when tests start to darken.

I would ClearBlue Ovulation tests. They are expensive but l found accurate.

Long time PCOS sufferer here. Ovulation sticks are notoriously rubbish with PCOS because the impact it has on hormones doesn't produce a clear surge. (I think you can basically get a second surge in a cycle that doesn't make them accurate). If you want to use them, buy the cheapest possible ones because you are basically peeing your money away.

How long have you been trying for no 2? If you have a formal PCOS diagnosis, it might be worth asking the GP for some blood tests to check you actually are ovulating.

I had to have fertility treatment to conceive my DD (Letrozole) in the end, but i gave up using the sticks on advice on the doctor i saw at the assisted conception unit.

I have PCOS, I was under the impression that ovulation tests can be inaccurate for us because they can show false surges or be almost constsntly positive for some women. I think if you’re not getting a positive, you could either be missing your surge and need to test twice a day, or you might not be ovulating. I would get all the symptoms of ovulation and even positive ovulation tests and not ovulate. If I were you I’d ask for a blood test 7 days after you think yoive ovulated so you know for sure.

I have only been testing once a day so maybe missed it. We've been trying for 10 months but most of that I was breastfeeding so think I can only really count 5 months. Plus there are other challenges like my husband is often too tired, we only try every 3 days. This is why it's important to narrow down to ovulation time.
