jump in a cab and go to Harley street.

PippiCalzelunghe · 24/01/2008 12:37

I know of harley street, thought it might be something else. ok, will do.

why do you need a late scan? is something wrong?

PippiCalzelunghe · 24/01/2008 12:41

no, but where I come from you have one done as a routine scan so I'd like to have that plus strep b thing and check that everything is okay with umbilical cord, position etc.

The portland, great portland st

Lulumama · 24/01/2008 12:43

oh i see
the fetal medicine centre on harley street could be your best bet \link{http://www.fetalmedicine.com/f-fmc.htm

DiamandaGalas · 24/01/2008 12:46

oops! sorry it almost sounded like an order.
Kypros Nicolaides has a private clinic there. He seems to be a very well respected practicioner.

PippiCalzelunghe · 24/01/2008 12:51

thanks. do you think it's ridiculous? i had a straight-forward first pg and delivery, am i having a delayed psb (did not had anything extra first time)?

oh yea, the portland... I thought it was only for celeb .

has anyone a rough idea of how much they charge for a scan? In Italy is about 100/150 euro so I assumes it'd be about the same here. wondering if it is throwing money away?

if this is your second baby, and your 20 weeks scan showed placenta in a normal position, and your baby is head down, and no indications that anything is amiss, then perhaps you need to relax a little bit. of course it is your prerogative to have a private scan here is the link again to fetal medicine centre you could call and ask them what it would cost?

PippiCalzelunghe · 24/01/2008 13:02

the thing is I am very relaxed (as in first pg, if not much more) I just thought maybe I'd try to be, how shall I say, a bit more 'less relaxed' as quite a few poeple in RL have hinted at how I should be more 'careful' ifkwim.

If by having it done and you can afford it will mean that you will have peace of mind, in my opinion is money well spent.

Lulumama · 24/01/2008 13:05

ah, so are people scaring you with horror stories?

agree if you are desperate for peace of mind it is money well spent, but if it is to appease other people, then not necessary?

are there any indications that you should think anything would be the matter?

or are people saying 'it;s never that easy second time...'

PippiCalzelunghe · 24/01/2008 13:17

no indication whatsoever. everything is as fine as one could see.
TBH it's more the case of general perception of nhs failures and comparing it with all the extra things friends abroad get done/checked etc. Also because last delivery was quick and straight forward I have little ground for making any judgement. Also I think I am trying putting myself into this frame of mind that I should not expect another 'easy' one just based on the first... so that I am not taken by surprise.

I am aware I might not make much sense...

is it almost that you canont believe it will be as straighforward again second time? if you feel that the extra scan will be enough to put your mind at rest and take those niggles of doubt away, tehn go for it

rationally, you know that it is more than likely that nothng will go wrong, but obviously emotionally, it is a different story.

or maybe St John and St Elizabeth, in St John's Wood?
