ECV or C Section

Hi,

So my baby has been head down for weeks, had a scan at 32+4 for low lying placenta (all good) and baby was head down then went to the midwife like a week later and the little rascal is now breech! Currently approaching 35 weeks and can tell baby is still breech by the movements - I have another midwife appt in just under 2 weeks.
Still time for baby to move but it also might not move.

If they don't move I know they will offer ECV as next step but i've been doing research and honestly think I am leaning towards a planned c section.... I also have HSV-1 (down there), had it for 12 years and i'm not bothered by it, had 2 outbreaks my whole life and last one was 8 years ago, never been on medication however it is in the back of my mind too, even though I know its not really a risk.

What would you guys do in my shoes? Try ECV or just book a section? I'm clued up on recovery etc and most of my friend circle have had a section, planned or emergency so have a good network.

Thanks!

I would have a section, I like to "know" what lies ahead so it would suit my mentality better! - my section was superb!

Congratulations and good luck!

Planned section.

But I'm biased, mine was lovely, calm, uncomplicated & I healed well.

I can vaguely remember doing some research on this and deciding I am ould never have ECV but can't remember why, it wasn't relevant to my situation.

I had a planned c-section.

So calm, felt very in control. Very positive experience. Recovery wasn’t as bad as I thought. Wouldn’t hesitate to have another.

100% planned section, I had one nearly 2 weeks ago now as my DD was breech, they offered (and really tried to push) for me to have an ECV but I declined based on the success rate and the fact she had been breech since they started tracking her position. My recovery has been really good!!! I was expecting it to be much worse, I only took ibuprofen and paracetamol religiously for the first 5 days, I only feel a bit of a pull if I do too much. Also it’s lovely to have an end in sight and know a date the baby will born on.

I’m very scared of a section I don’t know why but personally I’d avoid one at all costs but that’s just me because I’m scared

I had a c-section for my breech baby and had a horrendous time - I lost a huge amount of blood and was really out of it for hours after birth and found recovery much slower and more painful my vaginal births (one spontaneous, one induction, both big episiotomies) and my core never really went back to feeling quite right. Either way things can be tough. I did have an ECV and it didn't work - I think the odds are about 50-50. But it was only a bit uncomfortable and I'm glad I did what I could to avoid a c-section.
