Siobhan Miller (founder of the Positive Birth Company) is live streaming her birth. It went live around an hour ago. Thought we could use this thread as a live reaction/discussion thread if that’s allowed.

Ah I should’ve checked her posts again before I posted on her! So glad baby is well. What a relief

18 hour labour is quite long for a 4th labour isn’t it??

so glad her and baby are well and happy! ❤️

Anyone else think she’s totally self indulgent

No idea who she is but yes anybody wanting to livestream their labour is pretty self indulgent! Quite funny that she had to go to hospital and couldn't do it

Do you understand who the pbc are and why she was live streaming the birth?

Also how cunty of you to think its funny someone ended up in hospital instead of having a much wanted home birth.

threegoodthings · 18/09/2022 17:41

I dunno, I'm guessing it's a company that somehow makes money convincing people to have home births?

threegoodthings · 18/09/2022 17:43

And it's not the going to hospital bit in itself that I found funny, it's the fact that she couldn't do the live stream

No. Its a company that promotes positive birth experiences and tries to dispell the myths and cultural expectations that you cant have a positive birth. It even discusses how to have positive experiences with c sections as well as instrumental births and to give women as much information as possible to understand any processes thrown at them in labour.

Siobhans live streamed labour was to show the reality of how birth can be and to not make it a taboo subject where we only hear about the negative horror stories and see nothing except a few bundled up newborn photos afterwards.

Really even though she couldn't do the live stream it was still a good portrayal of what can happen in birth and sometimes home births start at home and end in hospital. Thats the reality they show.

Not really but it’s incredibly woke. From looking at the Instagram page you would think it’s an LGBT organisation

Gigitree · 03/10/2022 19:23

Came looking for a thread on her because it makes me feel really uncomfortable the pictures she shares of her newborn being looked after by her young boys and the babies all squished with it’s head at a funny angle looking like it can’t breathe 🙁

Hugasauras · 03/10/2022 19:26

I've not seen any pics like that, just one of her son cuddling in while baby has hiccups. Doesn't look squashed or anything to me.

The video of the birth is now up! All very calm and lovely (interesting to me who had two sections Grin).

Gigitree · 03/10/2022 19:28

It was on her instagram stories about 20 mins ago

Hugasauras · 03/10/2022 19:30

Ah I am an Instagram Luddite so only saw what appears on the main feed!

Considering my first (and only so far) labour was 4 hours from start to finish - yes, that is long!

Cuppasoupmonster · 04/10/2022 07:57

Actually I know what you mean, a lot of her stories are of her sons ‘watching’ the baby, squeezing her quite tightly and holding her in what looks like an uncomfortable position.

greenerfingers · 04/10/2022 08:08

Agree about the pics with the baby's neck and head looking very uncomfortable and unsupported.

Gigitree · 05/10/2022 19:53

@Cuppasoupmonster @greenerfingers glad it wasn’t just me
