Polyhydramnios

Hello, has anyone had Polyhydramnios. Deepest pool is 9.7cm (not sure if that's mild or severe).
They are saying the baby is on the small side (10th percentile) and the head is on the 4th. I'm not sure how worried I should be. Has anyone had polyhydramnios and the baby has had defects? My last scan was at 36 weeks, I'm now 38 weeks and being induced on the 24th.
Thank you

I had it and was induced. Also had gestational diabetes - the 2 are often linked.
My DS is nearly 2 and is a very healthy but wild child!

@ablisha thanks for your reply. I had the diabetes test done at 28 weeks I think and it came back fine so don't know what the cause is for me x

I had the test at 28 weeks, was all fine. However finger testing at 33 said I had got it later on in pregnancy. I'm by no means saying you have GD when I say this, it's just my experience.

I was induced at 38 weeks and all was fine 😊

I had it with my first pregnancy, diagnosed at about 32 weeks, no diabetes or defects, it was just one of those things. Went in to be induced on my due date but waters ended up breaking on their own (there was a LOT of water!!) Birth was straight forward and DD is very healthy.

@Amelia891 glad yours all turned out fine. I'd probably be OK if they didn't keep mentioning the head being small. All the measurements look all over the place (head and femur under 5th and abdomen much bigger). They haven't scanned me since 36 weeks and just booked me in to be induced on Saturday x

I had it. It was fine. Slightly higher risk of cord prolapse if your waters go early but that’s the only worry. I had a VBAC and all was fine although I wasn’t allowed to labour at home at all. Its got nothing to do with birth defects, the placenta just isn’t clearing the liquor as fast as it’s coming. When that’s due to your metabolism it can be a sign of gestational diabetes, but it also happens for no reason, as was the case for me. For many people the liqor naturally reduces again from 39 weeks.
Try not to worry, there isn’t anything you can do about it, but do go in if your waters break due to risk of cord prolapse (I believe the risk is 1/1000 but the consequences are dire).
