Hi Guys,

Went to the midwife today, i am due this Friday so she has booked me into see my consultant on monday morning and then i'll be booked into be induced which i really didnt want, this happened 1st time round and i ended up having a c-section and just feel the same thing will happen again this time and i really wanted have a vaginal delivery as i feel i really missed out on the whole birthing experience. My midwife said that my baby is quite big and i may end up having to have a c-section anyway....i just feel so frustrated and seems all the plans i have made have gone awry and i think i am going to have that on my mind even more so when the time comes around. I know...as long as my baby is healthy then it shouldnt matter how he is born!

Sorry to go on...just needed to get that off my chest.

I hope that you go into labour before then.

I am getting really twitchy now and I am only 27 weeks.

When we say 'as long as my baby is healthy' etc that to me is a last ditch attempt at a consolation because we missed out on a healthy normal process.

You have a right to feel robbed and upset, and to express it.

It's nice to see that your midwife and consultant have such faith in you Kirsty

Okay. Let's start from the beginning. You are planning a VBAC right. Well that's great. They can't insist on inducing you, especially if you had a caesarian because of failed induction. In fact being given syntocin when it is known it didn't work before is downright stupid because it increases the risk of scar rupture and some people (like me) cannot be induced because the fake hormones just don't do anything but create pain.

You should insist on at least waiting till week 41 and beyond that having active monitoring till week 42 (this means they listen to the heartbeat a few times a week and give you a scan to check on fluid levels). There is no reason for you to stress about this. Once you point out that it's your choice and that you are following NICE guidelines for management of overdue babies, they will back off.

Though they may give you horror scenarios to play with, tell them to feck off if this is the case.

I am sure if you relax a bit and realise that this will happen naturally at the right time for you and your baby, things will start.

I am so angry with your midwife for talking about induction before your baby is even due!!!
