That's it really. It's really starting to get me down, constant stomach cramps, constant pooping. I take Imodium to manage it (doctor said this is fine I get it prescribed) but it doesn't seem to do much these days. It's driving me
Mad, doctor didn't offer any other solutions 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm 18 weeks pregnant today, thought pregnancy would make my ibs better but nope, worse 🙌🏻 HELP HELP HELP

So sorry ur going through this! Im the same however im struggling with the the muscle cramps.. Currently off sick from work because its so bad, resting with a warm bottle.. Im 18 weeks tomorrow.. Im thinking of calling the GP tomorrow to see if there are any alternatives to buscopon as that really helped with my cramps...

All i can say for now is warm bottles, plenty of water and rest and if you know ur triggering foods stay off them.. Its so frustrating as there isn't much help in terms of medication.. With you through this painful journey 💕

I don’t have IBS, but I have seen ads for gut hypnotherapy for it. Not sure how or if it works!

I have a stomach ulcer which causes my bowel to cramp and create trapped wind. I was admitted for a week with it it the other week as my blood pressure was spiking due to the pain they prescribed buscopan and it really helped I think that is also used for irritable bowel and the consultant told me is safe in pregnancy. I'm now in one a day and oneorazole one daily to prevent another flare
Up.

That's interesting.. My GP and the doctor at MAU both have said they buscopon isn't recommend in pregnancy... The flare up has finally shifted so back on lifestyle changes to see how i get on.. But if it comes back i will be seeking further advice.. Good luck to you and fingers crossed no morw flare ups

@blibbyblobb - they told
Me that there were limited studies but it was not thought to be harmful and they often give it to pregnant women. Although some of the other drugs I was given varied from from doctor to doctor within the same unit as to wether it was safe or not one being pethidine. It's really quite scary that there are such differing options.

I think in the end it comes down to wether the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks. If they hadn't got my pain under control I would have ended up with acidosis which is really harmful to the baby and they would have had to deliver at 30'weeks so I guess in my case the benefit outweighed the risk. Hope you flare stays under control and the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly.

@HammerToFall ahh i see, sounds like its more beneficial and less risky if you take it.. Thanks for sharing.. Heres to healthy pregnancy 💕

Hi.. I'm 5 weeks and have been having cramps that feel like period cramps but they are so much more painful. They come in waves of about 10 to 40 minutes.

Sometimes I will just sit on the toilet and bear down and maybe some mucus comes out as a wet fart.. sometimes a small poop. Sometimes nothing.. not even gas.

Is this IBS?

I went to the ER and they said my pregnancy is fine and sent me home..

rosalue · 25/12/2022 09:03

Hi @Salpforyou - I am now about 8 weeks and had similar from around 4 to 6 or 7 weeks. Like you I concluded that it was probably digestive (even though it felt just like very strong period pains) and everything looked ok when I was scanned at the EPU.

It now seems to have completely settled (touch wood). All I did was just try to drink as much water as possible as I've never been great for that, and increase fibre. Perhaps that helped or perhaps everything just needed time to settle as I read digestive issues are often a reaction to the hormones.

I hope you're feeling better soon - all the best for your pregnancy 💐

@rosalue thank you for replying. This gives me hope! I'll try Lots of water and more fibre and hope for the best.

Thank you

Fodmap diet. It's worked quite well for me.
