Making a list of what to pack in my hospital bag for labour. Wondering if I've got too much stuff? First time doing this!

X2 pairs of PJ'S
X2 vest tops
X2 pairs of shorts (I get very hot easily)
X2 sports bras (which I don't mind getting wet should i go for the pool)
X2 nursing bras
X2 pairs leggins
X4 pairs of knickers (is this enough?)
X2 pairs of socks
X1 bath towel
X1 hoodie
Pair slippers
X1 oversized t-shirt to wear in labour potentially

I always end up over packing wherever I go, although never take more then a tiny suitcase!

Toiletries I have list wise

X2 packs maternity pads
X1 box breast pads
Shampoo / conditioner
Body wash
Spare hair bands / hair brush
Toothbrush/ toothpaste
Deodorant
Lip balm

Anything I've missed / shouldn't take off of these lists? Haven't even started on babies list yet as not sure what to pack on that one :/

Sounds like a good list so far! I would add a portable fan to the list, especially a hands free one, I was bloody boiling during labour and was so glad I had it!
Also picked up an Evian facial mist spray from Superdrug in a mini size- that was glorious in the heat

extra long phone charger
SO MANY snacks and drinks (Lucozade is great)
peri bottle if you are planning a vaginal birth

I would either double up on knickers and pads or go straight to disposable underwear (always ones are brill). My waters leaked constantly all the way through labour and would flood every time I stood up/ moved- went through so many knickers and pads before I’d even given birth!

good luck x

A carrier bag to put in wet or dirty washing.

I'm also adding a spare t shirt and boxers for hubby.

Maybe some change for vending machine.

Nipple cream!

Painkillers are a must! I recently had an emergency C-section and the midwives were so busy that they were rubbish with bringing painkillers and even when I asked for more they took over an hour to bring them. I wish I'd brought my own with me.

Headbands/bobbles if hair long.
Portable phone charger
snacks
bottle of water

Personally, I’d rather overpack than under pack for hospital. Last time I didn’t bring enough baby grows.

Packing a small back up bag at home is also a good idea in case you have an extended stay. Saves your DH or family member having to root through your things.

Sounds like a lot but good to be prepared. I was in and out so quickly with both of mine and gave birth naked (believe me, you won't care once you're in the throes of advanced labour) that I think I only used a change of pants!

Baby stuff: take lots of teeny vests and teeny nappies. They evacuate a surprising amount in the first day. And a hat.

My biggest tip: get your birth partner to actually pack the bag. That way s/he can easily and quickly find stuff while you're otherwise engaged.
