Pre eclampsia that didn’t shift once baby was born?

Anyone else have pre eclampsia and still suffered after baby was born?
had a section Thursday at 36 weeks, kept in hospital until yesterday but ended up discharging myself due to awful cabin fever there and feeling I could measure my own bp and give myself meds at home.
anyone been in a similar boat and how long did it take for you to start to feel normal BP wise.

thanks

I was kept in hosp for just under 2 weeks as they couldn't get my BP under control, suited me as baby was in NICU. GP took me off all meds as soon as he seen me and BP was fine 🙄

Yea I had this. I was discharged without any medication or any advice to monitor myself - ended up back in hospital!

I was on bp meds for about 4 months (labetalol), I gradually cut the dose down bit by bit and had to speak to the gp every couple of weeks about it. Eventually they said to come off altogether. I take my blood pressure every week still just to keep an eye on it but it's been ok so far. I used to know when it had gone high because I felt really really cold!! I also found my bp got worse when I was under any sort of strain - eg I had mastitis twice and both times my bp went right up and I had to increase meds again.

It felt like it went on forever but actually the last couple of months I was on a pretty low dose. I've also read of people who have only been on meds for a few weeks afterwards and then it's stabilised straight away. (I had Covid at 8 months pregnant so was pretty wiped out to start with).

I had no idea that pre-eclampsia can reoccur after birth! The wonderful things you find out after childbirth.....

Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Thank you everyone this is helpful.
i took myself into hospital on Wednesday after finding out on Monday I had pre eclampsia, I was was basically rushed in and seen to straight away and told I needed my baby.
baby is fine but I was on a ivf drug in hospital for it then they’d been trying to monitor it with labetalol but it’d always end up rising, got to Saturday and it was the same convo you need to stay so we can check your BP I lost it and said I needed ti go home. I feel much better and chilled at home, my BP will rise if I do too much but I don’t get headaches etc like I did whilst pregnant.
midwife wasn’t happy with the BP today and told me to go in, I didn’t as it’d of been the same chats as I had at hospital yesterday. My plan is to the GP tomorrow and talk about management with him and make up some kind of plan which the hospital won’t talk to me about doing.
yheu never told me you could still get it etc all they said was now baby is out it should be gone.

I was kept in for 1 week PP as my BP was out of control! I had a combination of labitolol and nifedipine for about 3 months, slowly weaned off under GP
Supervision, no further BP problems!
I was told I had pregnancy induced hypertension, I had my 36 week appointment and BP was perfect! 5 days later I went into spontaneous labour because my BP had gone so high over night!
