Braxton Hicks - worse every night!

I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this as they are driving me mad!
I'm 38 weeks and last week I started getting terrible pains in my back followed by BH. They went away (after a worrying half an hour thinking I was in labour) but I've had them every night since and they are getting much worse. Last night I had to pant through them as they got to near labour pain proportions. I'm going to ask my midwife today but I was wondering (and hoping) if this means labour is just around the corner?
I didn't get them very much with DD and I didn't have a recognisable show either so I can't judge it from that.
Thankyou!

mine are worse on a night (31 weeks) but i think its just because im sitting still so notice them more. i didnt have them with my first either but did with dd2 and now with dd3. i had them from around 30 weeks with both and went to 40 weeks + 1 day so it might not mean babies iminant (sorry) but its good practice all the same and id check with mw anyway just incase.

Im seeing midwife tomorrow so gonna ask her about it, i had to take 2 paracetomal at 4 this morning as i couldnt sleep through being so uncomfortable!! Just thought id let u know ur not on ur own! Let me know what ur mw says!!

Hi im 36+4w and have been having the most agonising BH since 10pm last Friday. Saw MW yesterday and she said the closer you get to D day the stronger they should get. Ive also been taking paracetamol but its done buggger all. Midwife told me to try co-codamol but ive stayed away from that as it makes me constipated . My pain has been so bad that at one point i even thought i was in labour.

Lulumama suggested that i get on my birthing ball and breath through the pain. It does work and midwife said that the movements on the ball will also encourage baby to come further down xx

Spoke to my midwife and she said that the stronger the pains the quicker and sooner my labour is likely to be. She said all this in a very serious tone with her hand on my knee and told me not to be afraid of calling an ambulance
I had a 6 hour labour with DD and she thinks this one will be quicker. She also said that once I go I'll just go (I think she means speed wise, hmm)
I darent bounce on my labour ball as baby is already fully engaged!

Hi, I am 32 weeks and have just been to hospital to get checked out for second time due to strong B.Hicks. I was kept in 2 weeks ago for 2 days for observation. This is my second pregnancy and I harly had them with my first. I do feel like the baby is going to fall out anytime!

ChasingSquirrels · 29/04/2008 22:23

mine were awful with ds2.
started at 20 wks and just got worse and worse.
By 28 wks they were pretty much every 10 mins most of the time, and didn't get any better.
was hospitalised at 32 wks (after an hour on a monitor when I had actually felt quite relaxed and hadn't had many - and they freaked when they looked at the readout) for steriods in case the baby came early.
dc2 was born at 36+6+(23hr59mins lol).
I was in labour for 15mis!

The same is happening with me and I'm 30 weeks, but with DD I had to egt injections around this time to stop laboiur as always had immense BH's.DD born 39+2

This time round, BH's happen all the time, last night every 4 mins with pain, but deicded to go tobed and this morning they had gone. Re-occuring very regularly and it is worrying, though I'm thinking that if it is labour (which I don't want at the mo) then it'll wake me up.

At least it's a relief hearing others going through the same.x

I am 32 weeks and I have been plague by them for the last week or so and they are getting worse escpecially if I am stressed or tired. On tuesday I too was dreading I might be in early labour. I just hope it doesn't mean labour is round the corner (although I went into labour with DD at 32 weeks).

Sketchi I do the same, I try to go to bed hoping for them to go away (which so far they have done)

I am 38 weeks and 6days and starting to experience BH more of an evening which can be quite painful but do wear off after a few mins, just seems very strange to experience more of an evening now and wondered if things were progressing?! Who knows. Baby is moving well so I'm not worrying and head is fully engaged. This is my 3rd child and never from what I can remember have I felt BH throughout. So quite new to me
