Can't get a scan for over a week - daily monitoring

Has anyone been in this situation and maybe could advise if there is anything I could do?

I've had a few episodes of reduced movements this pregnancy and have everytime gone into hospital as advised. It last happened yesterday, baby was very quiet and of course I was worried and went in. So now I have to keep coming back for daily monitoring until a scan, that's fine, but the earliest is the 13th! I don't drive, so am having to rely on my husband to take me everyday/evening, runs his own business, works very long hours and just isn't pheasable really ! I haven't even got the money for Ubers as it costs me £15-20 each way. I can't afford that!

The ward clerk has told me I should really have a scan within 72 hours but they are just chockablock.

Just not sure what I'm meant to do...

Should mention that I have gestational diabetes and a blood clotting disorder. Surely that would make me eligible to be seen within the 72 hours ? What do people think?

I’ve never had a scan with reduced movements, they just hook me up to a machine, also have a blood clotting disorder. I thought the monitoring was more effective than a scan? Can you get a private one if you’re worried?

dmask · 04/09/2022 19:03

How much longer do you have left before due date?

Ubbee · 04/09/2022 19:03

Can you go for a private scan? Obviously not ideal but sounds like it would cost a lot less than the taxis…

Their daily monitoring is the safety netting, if they're chocablock then it's unlikely they'll chuck anyone off the list unless they think that the scan is absolutely vital; usually in this case it's to compliment other checks. If it would be possible to get in at late notice then you could say you'd like to hear of any cancellations, and of course if you're concerned you can ask them to go through this with you.

I'm 35 weeks tomorrow. Should be having a ELCS at 39 weeks.

I do get it it's their protocol but I'm not sure what you're physically supposed to do if you can't get there.

I would say I could get a return bus everyday which I might have to now, but that's not ideal as I have really bad spd too

Sorry just seen - I have said I'm going to call up every morning and see if there is any cancellations

You have a DH problem, not a hospital problem. Tough shit if he’s whining, he will have to take you every day. He has a car. He can drive.

Moancup · 04/09/2022 19:19

It’s possible that when you’re in they’ll find a way to squeeze you in, especially if the monitoring flags any concerns. I was having very regular monitoring but capacity meant I had to wait a day longer than ideal for a scheduled scan. I went in for a CTG the day before and lo and behold a scan slot became available -and then they decided to deliver the baby.

Exactly I've had scans the same day before.
And yeah I know dh could be more chilled about it but we've got loads on atm, house Reno and everything so it is inconvenient to be honest but also out of my control aswell so it is what it is.
I'm just going to cross my fingers a sooner scan comes up
