Hello, first time mum here! I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this with MS. I started with it at 5 weeks and it’s been non stop since (I’m now 14 weeks). I’m sick around three times a day and constantly nauseous. Working from home only and have barely been able to leave the house to do much else since it started. Can keep liquids and some foods down. Over the last few weeks I’ve had odd days where I’ve felt like it’s been easing, only for it to come back with a real vengeance and be worse than ever a couple of days later. I thought it might have started to ease even just a teeny bit by now but it just seems to be so up and down at the moment. One second I think I’ve turned a corner, the next I’m throwing up repeatedly. Is that normal?! TIA x

Poor you
I was like this with my first baby, barely ate and lost 2 stone - she turned out fine
Your GP or MW might be able to help but I just nibbled on ginger biscuits and drank mint tea. If I did eat it was whatever I fancied whenever I fancied it (and took my mulitvits) so any ideas about a healthy diet went out of the window.
I would like to say it eased but I was still throwing up in Labour - sorry.

Wasnt so bad with number 2 though

@Rose256
I'm the exact same. I'm 14 weeks also. And still having good and bad days, Thurs I was super with no nausea at all and really thought I'd finally got to the end of it all. Then yesterday was completely dreadful, vomited 5 times with all day nausea and headache. Today now I'm not so bad, able to eat whatever I fancy, but still taking it handy on the sofa with some Netflix. From around 12 weeks I feel like it's been so up and down. But I'm hoping this is the gradual trend towards improvement. I'm so sick of the unpredictability of it now

@Rose256
This is also baby no 1 for me. Its all so new and a big reality check, the first trimester is wild

Yes sounds normal to me, it's horrible. For me things improved weeks 15-18 (I've had 3 babies)

NewYorkLassie · 03/09/2022 12:30

I didn’t start to turn a corner until 18-20 weeks with both pregnancies. But after that I felt amazing so fingers crossed for you that the same happens!

Mommabear20 · 03/09/2022 12:31

I was lucky in that I didn't get much actual sickness, but I've had 24/7 nausea with all three from 4-16 weeks when it abruptly stopped 🤷‍♀️ I get the very odd spot of nausea (usually if I've not eaten for several hours) now and again, but it's very very rare now.

It's not a pleasant start to parenthood but it doesn't last forever! I'm sorry you've got it so bad, but just focus on getting through 1 morning/afternoon at a time.
Hope it eases for you soon!

That sounds miserable. What has your midwife /GP said? I know lots of women are prescribed antiemetics

So sorry you're going through it too! It's so hard isn't it, especially when you have a glimmer of hope that it's improving and then it gets worse again. Also in front of the sofa with Netflix! Hopefully it eases for us both soon and that this is the gradual trend as you say!

Thank you that's good to know!! I have a few friends who either didn't have any MS or theirs had gone by 12 weeks, defo seems like lots of women struggle with it for longer!

So sorry you went through that! Must have been so so hard. Women are honesty super heroes! Haven't actually tried mint tea yet but will definitely give that a go x

They have prescribed me some anti emetics, just deciding whether to take them now or wait it out a couple more weeks to see if it gets better. So tricky as sometimes I'll have a better day and think it's easing

Sick, or at least nauseous, every day until the day DD was born. It did get better, but not by much!
