So (too late for this)!

I flew to London for work yesterday at 25 weeks pregnant - plying home tonight! Everyone keeps asking if I was allowed to fly. I didn’t even consider this. Have a hurt the baby! I didn’t even run it by the midwife!

please let me know what you think!!

It’s more that the airline won’t let you fly past a certain number of weeks in case you give birth in the air. The baby will be fine.

Flying is not harmful to you or baby.

The risk is in case you go into early labour, so airlines generally ask for fit to fly notes after 28 weeks.

If you are going to keep flying for work then
you will need a fit to fly note. I had to pay for one off my GP as the midwife wouldn’t do one.

NHS

The link above is very useful. Flying is not harmful to baby, although you may need to take extra precautions for long haul. Some airlines require fit to fly notes from 28 weeks, so you’re good to go for now.

I flew 12 hours to Mauritius and back again at 27 weeks. You'll be fine.

I just flew at 33 weeks on a 11 hour flight there and back in a week and I’m absolutely fine. Flying is perfectly safe in a healthy pregnancy

LeafHunter · 01/09/2022 12:07

I’m flying on sat at 25weeks. There are LOADS of guidelines online about the rules for different airlines and how to fly safely (ie walk round)

eurochick · 01/09/2022 12:10

Most airlines will want a fit to fly letter from around 28 weeks and will have a total ban from somewhere around 35 weeks. It's worth checking with your airline but most don't require anything before 28 weeks. I flew loads up until my pregnancy became high risk at 28 weeks (nothing to do with the earlier flying, FAOD).

You couldn't have googled it in 3 seconds?

It's fine

Jcmummy32 · 03/09/2022 09:47

@berksandbeyond You couldn’t have taken 3 seconds to consider not writing that? Pregnancy brings out anxiety in a lot of people and sometimes talking about irrational worries helps.

everyone else, thank you so much for putting my mind at ease x
