Buggies recommendation for 2 under 3

DS1 will be 2.5 years when DD2 will be born. I know others will mention to use a sling or buggy board and I don’t need a buggy etc however I do plan to use those too . Regardless due to my lifestyle of always running errands and doing the shopping etc , living in a busy part of london and I don’t drive so rely on public transport , plus my son will very likely still be having daytime naps I would need a double buggy for some days . I’m finding it hard to look for buggies online as most of them seem to have a limit on the weight of both kids. With the 2.5 year old age gap between both they seem to go over this weight limit. Can anyone recommend any decent buggies which is likely to last for longer as well . I’m not looking for buy a stroller for DD2 so I was hoping I could find a double buggy that transforms into a single one for when DS1 doesn’t need it anymore and I can hopefully continue to use it as a single buggy till my daughter outgrows it.

thanks

I used a Phil and Teds and loved it.

Out and about nipper 360.
Best thing I've bought.

Get a second hand Bugaboo Donkey.
Unlike other strollers that are doubles you can configure it so that you have a single stroller with a side basket for when you only need it for one child, then you click 3 buttons and can extend the frame sideways to accommodate an additional toddler chair or bassinet which you simply slot in.

Each seat has a 22kg capacity unlike double strollers like the Uppababy Vista where the additional toddler seat (called a rumble seat) has a lower weight limit.

You can also configure each chair in whichever way you want which is a bonus.

It's pricey but a good investment and second hand you should be able to get a good bargain. I've got DD turning 2 soon and expecting a second right now due September so we went for this option after doing a ton of research.

I'm also in London, don't drive, do a lot of walking, nursery drop off and pick up, etc.

I’m going to have a 26 month gap and definitely needed a double buggy, for naps if out all day as you mention, and also needing sometimes to just strap kids in and go 😂 if my toddler decides he’s not standing on a buggy board and is running in a different direction what do I do?!

I’ve got an Out’n’About Nipper Double v4 and it’s wonderful! If tested it with my son and my niece and it’s so smooth and easy to manoeuvre, easy to get up and down, not to heavy to get into the back of the car, and it goes up to age 4. But doesn’t convert into a single. Great resell value if you wanted to sell and buy a single later though

Out n about Nipper V4, it's a dream! My kids loved it, DD would hop in and out of it until she was nearly 4. It was great for longer walks, beaches etc. but also slim enough to fit easily through doorways. I've just sold mine on second hand and they really hold their value too. The best thing I bought when I had 2 under 2.

I second this. I am a childminder and use it all the time. Easy to steer. I have a couple of heavy siblings who use it and it's still easy to push. It's a great work horse and you can use the 2nd seat as a bag etc storage when older one wants to walk.

Icandy peach double. 19 months between mine. We used it for 4 years! It's one behind the other so you can get through doors!

Absolutely loved it.

Gooseysgirl · 02/09/2022 04:48

I had a 21 month gap and LOVED my Uppababy Vista. If you're going to be going out a lot on foot and shopping - the huge basket underneath for groceries etc is a godsend

Orangesare · 02/09/2022 05:44

City mini is from birth upwards. Easy to push fits through most doors and I get my just turned 5 year old (suspected asd) and 2 year old in quite happily. I think each seat can take 22kg

cravingmilkshake · 02/09/2022 05:47

3 under three here!

Made a huge mistake of a bugaboo donkey- it's heavy, bulky and not practical (for me) - it didn't even fit through our front door.

Bought the out and about nipper 360 double and it's the best thing I've bought. So light. - folds flat. Wheels come off easy if you need it flatter!

BradPittsLeftTit · 02/09/2022 05:58

Just here to add my weight to out n about nipper double v4. Amazing!!

I went to a large pram shop to try some and my then 20 month DS barely fit in the seat of the donkey so that ruled it out very quickly!

Sparklythings1 · 02/09/2022 08:10

I’m not even pregnant with my second yet but thinking about this as we’re hoping for a 2 year gap. The bugaboo donkey is my favourite from what I’ve seen but does seem massive for throwing in the car etc. My problem is even with one child just now, so far in my hall we have his original pram, a running buggy which I love, a trike and in the car we keep a tiny travel buggy for when we’re out. I just think with a second child I would end up with so many more 🙈 Looking back I should probably have got the egg or Icandy one that can go into a double so that I could just have used his original pram for both. At the time I was so focused on having one baby though I couldn’t have thought about a second!

I’m just thinking if we have another I will probably end up buying a second hand double running buggy, something we can use when the second child is tiny - have looked at buggy boards with seats to go on his original pram then we will need something smaller and more lightweight for throwing in the car, taking on holiday etc as I feel you take a pram on holiday for children much older than they’d use one at home. It’s just so many prams 🙈😂

I had the mountain buggy duet - 22m gap here and my eldest was almost 4 when he finally stopped using it.
