Food panic

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and have a bit of a food wobble this evening. I had one of these nacho cheese bites thinking they were okay. On checking the ingredients it says they contain medium fat and full fat soft cheese. Now I'm in a panic because I thought you couldn't eat soft cheese. They were cooked and hot when I ate them. I've copied the link to them.

Thank you for reading. Pregnancy can be overwhelming at times

Soft cheese is fine, cooked or otherwise.

You can have soft cheese if it’s pasteurised which I would strongly assume it is. Even if it wasn’t you can eat it hot so absolutely nothing to worry about. You can relax!

It's fine, cooked and no doubt pasteurised. The danger foods tend to be those that fit in the fridge a while so opened cooked meats, soft cheeses that aren't pasteurised and have been open etc.

Stop scaremongering yourself with American based websites, seriously. Look at the NHS one if you need a guide, there’s really very little you ‘can’t’ eat.

I know it can be an anxious time but really, it’s only a nacho cheese bite, I ate Brie, rare steak and deli meats when pregnant. Not all at once mind.

Its mould ripened and soft blue cheeses that you should avoid unless cooked.

Cream cheeses and other soft pasteurised cheeses are fine to eat cooked or uncooked. Your nacho bites have been cooked already and are fine to eat.

Soft cheese is fine! Unless (from memory) it’s a soft blue cheese, or one with a mould rind like Brie / Camembert - in which case cook it first. Good excuse for baked Camembert or deep fried Brie.

PinkButtercups · 30/08/2022 21:59

That sort of cheese is fine.

Don't worry in early pregnancy I dived straight into a deli sub. Not even realising!

Thanks for your helpful replies. I've mainly avoided cheese products as I get so confused about them.
