Down Syndrome Testing / Harmony Test

Hi All,

I am 32 years of age, I will be 33 by the time my baby is born. My testing has came back as 1 in 2,688 for DS and 1 in 25,751 for ES and PS. I know these statistics are classed as low risk, however, my friend who is the same age as me came back with results of 1 in 40,000 for DS and 1 in 50, 000 for ES and PS which has led me to become concerned. I don't mean any harm with my post but would be grateful/interested to hear other peoples stories. I am considering paying privately for a Harmony test.

TY

Have you worked this out as a percentage?

It's 0.03% for DS.

I was 29 pregnant and had 1 in 84 chance as my NT score was high. I had a healthy baby.

Hey,

Thank you for getting back to me. I know it is really low risk, its just worrying as my friends had much better odds. x

Honestly it's not even worth thinking about, it's a tiny chance. If you feel you need the harmony then get it for the peace of mind if you won't be able to let it go but you are very low risk

Our DS actually showed at high risk for downs via the NHS testing but the harmony test which is considered to be far more reliable showed low risk and indeed DS (now 3 months old) didn't have downs. I would get it done for peace of mind, of course it's not 100% but much more reliable, you don't need the extra worry when pregnant!!

Both my eldest DCs risk came in at less than 100, I had CVS for both of them, harmony wasn't around back then. CVS was very new for the eldest, until then it was amino. Youngest wasn't high risk at all but we had the harmony test for peace of mind. None of them have Downs Syndrome.

If it's worrying you get it done. It's worth it for your peace of mind.

I had the harmony test with my last baby as I was 38 and the midwifes kept offering it to me! It cost £300 but in my opinion it was worth every penny for the peace of mind!! If it had of came back high risk I would have continued with the pregnancy and loved the baby just the same but I would have wanted to be prepared..

Get the test to give yourself peace of mind.

Even with low risk, some cases of DS are missed. I’d do the nipt / harmony test as well.
