Hi, I have just had my first contact apt with midwife I’m 10w 3D, and my carbon monoxide was at 7 I’m a non smoker in a non smoking house with 3 carbon monoxide alarm in my house. I do live on a busy main road all day which she said she thinks that’s what is it & is something that can not be helped!? Midwife said she’s not concerned it’s something in the house I.e boiler etc but it is high she said anything above 3 classes as high. Where I work everyday I have to walk through a smoking alley she told me to stop that but it wouldn’t of affected todays reading as I haven’t been in work for 4 days!
So now I’m abit confused really and worried as if it is just where I live then what does that mean for any harm to my baby as I can’t prevent me being exposed?

thank you

Something in the hospital causing it?

MassiveSalad22 · 30/08/2022 17:12

I had this! Don’t think I was as high as 7 though. Just got the boiler checked and was retested next appt and it was fine. Didn’t even have those checks in my first 2 pregnancies, it’s just 1 more thing to worry about!

@HelenR15 are you by any chance lactose intolerant?

HelenR15 · 30/08/2022 17:16

Not that I’m aware of no

@HelenR15 - sorry, that was a weird question. My SIL is lactose intolerant, and apparently it can show up as high CO levels.

My reading at my last midwife appointment earlier this month was 5! My one before that was 0. We have just had a new boiler fitted and have carbon monoxide alarms in the house so I know it's not that. Non-smoker in a non-smoking household too. I had a bit of a panic my car might be leaking carbon monoxide as it's quite old and has had a few problems recently, so put it into the garage for a check - completely normal emissions. My midwife put it down to environmental reasons which makes sense as I had been out in my car all morning with the windows down as it was so hot. My midwife wasn't too concerned if it's environmental and just said she'd recheck at my next appointment. I know it's hard but try not to worry too much!
