37 weeks and being induced tomorrow. I feel horrendous and have felt horrendous for the last 3 ish weeks since being diagnosed.

This is my first baby, and although I'm a midwife, I don't really have much anecdotal experience of when mothers start to feel better? Is it within a few days? Weeks? I just want to manage my expectations.

For context my symptoms are the classic high blood pressure (on 2 types of medication to control it), constant irritating headache, brain fog, tiredness but can't sleep and just generally feeling absolutely shitty.

Feels like ill be like this forever so if anyone can reassure me I'd be so grateful.

I had this with my first. I actually felt worse after, possibly due to complicated long labour with forceps delivery. My bp went up after delivery and I had to be re admitted to hospital. I felt better after about a week.
Good luck for your induction and hope you feel better soon.

I had pre eclampsia and was induced at 37 weeks about a month ago. After my baby was born I was put on a magnesium sulphate drip for 24 hours. For 12 hours I could have no liquid then for the next 12 hours I could only have 25ml of water an hour. Hopefully you won't have to go through that but I would suggest making sure you're well hydrated beforehand and bringing juicy sweets and fruit with you just in case. My partner got sent out for watermelon!

Also I expected to be there a while as I was told induction can take up to 4 days but my extremely high blood pressure sped things up and it was very fast, so be prepared for that too.

Best of luck.

I had this with my first though I was just sleeping constantly and felt horrendous before they discovered it, any breaks at work I was sleeping, sleeping after work, all night and still just feeling completely exhausted, ended in emergency section at 38 weeks, felt better in a day or 2 and BP reduced and I was on the meds for a further 10 days or so with the midwife checking to make sure it stayed in the normal range.

I had severe pe, and had my DTs at 36+5 as a surprise elcs. I felt better pretty much immediately, and wanted to get up and moving about 3 hours after I’d had them. The next day I could bend my legs easier, and they’d stopped leaking. I think I’d felt so shit for the last 2-3 months of pregnancy that just not being pregnant was a glorious feeling.

Good luck!
