Choosing a consultant

Hello!
I’m 25 weeks pregnant and I’m looking into consultants cause I’m not on NHS so I have to go private anyway.
I want a vaginal delivery if that would be possible by the time I give birth.

do you recommend Guy Thorpe-beeston? What do you know about him? Does he push for c-sections or he delivers naturally?

appreciate a response :)

No hesitation. I had a section with him, but that was my choice and he never pushed me one way or the other, just gave medical advice for me to make the decision.

I found his bedside manner a bit quirky in that he’s not the most engaging person you’ll ever meet, but as a clinician he’s exceptional, he’s there 24/7, and that’s what ultimately counts.

His back-up in case something happened whilst he was away or in theatre was Tariq Miskry. I didn’t have him as an obstetrician in the end as GTB was always available when I needed him, but Mr Miskry has since become my gynaecologist for annual check-ups etc and he too is excellent, with a much more approachable manner.

Communication style is a personal preference and perhaps best you meet a couple of doctors (which I didn’t, went straight to GTB), but both these are very strong clinicians with legions of followers.

Thank you so much for the information! I went straight to GTB and I didn’t see anyone else. I am not in the UK and by the time I’ll go there I’ll be 33 weeks so I can’t really see the consultants face to face as I won’t have time. I am a bit concerned about his behavior as you mentioned but maybe his experience will outweigh this quirky manner.
Again, thank you so much!
