Hi everyone - I'm 7 weeks pregnant and have been prescribed Cariban for Hyperemis. I feel on the edge already although symptoms started at week 3. Can anyone share any experience with this medication? I'm most concerned about birth defects and can't shake this off my mind although I'm desperate for help. Thank you - feeling so lonely and despaired x

Hi! I'm 7 weeks tomorrow. Started being sick a fortnight ago. I've been prescribed cyclizine, which hasn't done much, so about to start on metoclopramide. I'm worried about taking medication too, but I've had two previous pregnancies where I didn't take anything and ended up sooo sick. Are you in the uk? My friend was prescribed cariban, she said it helped but was hard to get hold of here.

Cariban won't cause birth defects. It's very very safe. In fact there are loads of safe anti sickness options for pregnant women nowadays. I myself was on stemetil from week 5 until week 20ish. I have a beautiful, healthy, clever little girl now.

See the pregnancysicknesssupport website for lots of helpful info. And best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy OP!

Thank you both so much, really appreciate it and lots of luck to you. Sickness is wretched - apparently a good sign for the growing babe though. X

Hi! I’ve been taking Xonvea which is the UK equivalent since 10 weeks and I am now coming up to 35 weeks and still on it. Absolutely no problems :)

I couldn’t of managed without it! I tried promethazine, cyclizine and domperidone until I tried xonvea that finally worked. I had to start with 2 at night and 1 in the morning then by about week 16 I went down to 2 at night and then week 25 I weaned down to just 1 at night. You can take up to 4, 2 at night and 2 in the morning so make sure you find the dose that helps the HG.

Thanks so much. I've found it hasn't helped much so will ask the doctor for other options x
