Hi everyone, today has brought a new challenge in pregnancy. Piles. Sore, large swollen piles which is making me absolutely miserable! I work on my feet all day looking after others and every step hurts because of these piles! Standing up hurts, sitting down hurts, driving, you name it it hurts. The only relief I am managing is laying down on my side. I have tried anusol cream, and germoloid suppository (just the one so far) after sitting in a shallow sitz bath for 30 minutes. I suppose my question is, has anyone else suffered and found relief some how? I’m about 30 minutes away from popping an ice pop between my bum cheeks to see if that will give me some relief 😂 thanks in advance and sorry for the TMI, but I’m at my wits end!

Yes I suffered with this and it was probably the most painful aspect of my pregnancy. Once your baby is born, they do disappear !
I did everything you are doing, anusol, baths, lying on my side, sitting on a pillow. I put a damp tea towel in the freezer and actually put that in between my legs to get a little bit of comfort.
I spoke to my midwife who suggested seeing a doctor for when it got very bad. Thankfully it eased up a bit but I did need to take some time off work as I was in too much pain to function.

See a doctor as there are steriod suppositories that can be prescribed.

This is what you need. They may even prescribe over the phone. Also make sure you’re not at all constipated drink loads of water and fruit, dried apricots are good.

It’s probably easier to get in touch with Beyoncé than it is my doctor, but I’m going to try tomorrow I think because just walking from the toilet to the sofa is unbearable never mind working too, although if I go off money will be very tight indeed. Thank you all! Pregnancy eh, it’s so glam!

Also consider taking Movicol or Macrogol on a daily basis from now until well after the birth - labour will probably aggravate the piles and straining isn't something you'll want to be doing afterwards!!

Epsom salts in the bath really helped mine.

I really find diet can help enormously. I had piles a couple of weeks ago, as was on holiday and wasn't eating my usual (very boring) muesli breakfast. Added a load of prunes, and things are a bit easier again. Have you tried adding a few prunes to each meal? Also drink plenty of water.
Poor you op, it's horrendous. Hope you can clear it up.

Keep applying the cream. Ice pack between bum cheeks and then try and push them back into your rectum.

You poor thing. I had this with both my pregnancies and it is so painful. You can get free prescriptions whilst pregnant so HOUND your GP - ask for a phone appointment as they can prescribe stool softener and it will help.

Drink loads of water and avoid red meat, you need heaps and heaps of fibre.

Get an inflatable donut cushion for sitting to take the pressure off - at work can you ask for adjustments to get you off your feet a bit?

If you have a vaginal birth, the pushing can make the piles a lot worse IME, so make sure you keeping drinking loads and get someone to bring you lots of fruit if you are stuck in hospital for a day or two.

"Once your baby is born, they do disappear!" @Hiddenvoice Even after natural birth? I was pushing for 2 hours and made it a million times worst. Started in my third trimester and went away 3 months after birth (one and off but basically every other week). Now after 7 months I get them around once in every two months. I guess by the time they will dissapear I will have an other baby and the whole thing will start again 🤣

I got my first lot of piles when I had my son 6 years ago and sadly they never went away. Now pregnant with my second and they are worse than ever.

In my case the option for me is surgery to have them removed once and for all.
