hello

i have 2 boys and would like to have a girl. 1st birth was breech so had to have c section, 2nd they said that my womb lining was thin so if i had not had c section then it would have ruptured. Not sure what this means for another pregnancy.

did you notice any chances after 3rd preg/c section. thank you very much!!

Foxy ;)

I've had two (both due to breech presentation) and will be having a third in May ... because I've never been in labour they won't let me have a trial at this stage incase of rupture and also (probably primarily) it's twins. I think, if I were you, I'd ask my midwife/dr re a third section and thin lining - that way you get it straight from the horses mouth

VictorianSqualor · 21/01/2008 22:20

I've had two, am trying for a VBAC this time round but if not will be having my third.

BTW, thin womb linig doesnt mean not strong, silk is thin but strong.

Can I ask how they 'knew' your lining was thin??

dippydeedoo · 21/01/2008 22:21

ive had 3 93,95 and 2000 i didnt heal very well on the 3rd one and felt v run down needed lots of anti biotics but i think if you rest and take it easy you will be fine - good luck xxxxx ohh yes and i had stitches riend opted for staplesand hers was still abit yukky

foxy1 · 23/01/2008 14:58

hi foxy xx they never said anything except to comment on loads of scar tissue....

foxy1 · 25/01/2008 14:16

Hi dippydeedoo - do they remove some of the scar tissue from previous c sections afterwards? thanks

i would speak to a consultant, and preferably whoever did your last surgery

if your scar was starting to come apart, then that does hav implications, but the greatest stress on teh scar, is not pregnancy but labour...

get an expert opinion before you get pregnant i think

dippydeedoo · 26/01/2008 00:16

foxy i think they must have....it was bog standard nhs in a dodgy hospital tho lol in fact so dodgy they left bits of placenta in and i haemorraged badly in the bathroom at home ...... nearly died in fact

Neverenough · 26/01/2008 01:04

I've had 3 sections-the third took longer to recover from but generally speaking you won't be encouraged to labour after 2 sections because 1) risk of rupture and 2)no reason to think that the reason for the fisrt 2 sections has gone away. I have a friend who has had 5 sections-if the baby's here it has to come out but the risks are higher!
I think that they are talking about the scar not the womb lining.

foxy1 · 26/01/2008 23:54

yes good idea. will speak to consultant at hospital and see what they say. (dippydeedoo how aweful! must have been scary!

Well I have had 4 CSs, no probs with any of them, and there are others here who have had the same or more, but those will all have been without any contra-indications from the norm (afaik) - so you def need to talk more to consultants about the implications of the thin lining.

Of course you might get another boy...

Good luck anyway

moljam · 27/01/2008 00:32

i had 3(2000,2001 and 2005).i recovered better each time.with 3rd i had tear to bladder during csection but healed after 10 days.i would like 4th,gps etc said no so i saw consultant who'd done previous csections-he said no problems so long as aware of risks and that hed be happy to go ahead,gp was still not happy though so am trying hard to make it too his 2 year mark-apparently time it takes to heal properly.
im scared as hell and will probably ask to visit consultant again before ttc just incase hes changed his mind.
i defiantly recommend visiting your consultant.

eidsvold · 27/01/2008 05:44

had three - no problems healed really well after all of them. Felt well enough to go home after a couple of days - just took it easy and rested as much as I could.

Took a little longer to get into dd3 due to some scarring. But no problems with surgery or recovery.

dippydeedoo · 27/01/2008 11:37

on my 3rd i had him at about 10 am on the thursday was home at lunchtime in saturday....that was far too early and i think it contributed towards my poor recovery

moljam · 27/01/2008 21:53

dippydeedoo-that is quick!

i had to stay in 5 days with first as id been put to sleep and were both dopey and she had jaundice
with 2nd i think 4 days
3rd-week as he had to visit scbu every 4 hours.and had that thingy test in his back-cant think-have cold.

id happily rest longer with each one and dont understand rush some people are in to get out!

dippydeedoo · 27/01/2008 22:03

it was during the fuel crisis in 2000 and the hospital had minimal staff and i think they just wanted rid ......i was v aneamic hadnt had a poop and was flooding with blood!!!.....then of course u go home to your family and even tho you try to rest you cant really cos it so hard ....

moljam · 27/01/2008 22:19

blimey!

no i tried to rest especially after 3rd as had damaged bladder and wee bag for 10 days but couldnt just 'sit' so got infected

foxy1 · 29/01/2008 14:17

Is the gap of 2 years between birth of previous baby to conception of new one or birth of new one? thank you

OP posts:
moljam · 30/01/2008 09:21

who?

foxy1 · 30/01/2008 14:37

Sorry - I am not very clear. When they say you should leave it 2 years between c sections. Do they means 2 years from the birth of your last child to the birth of your next child (or)conception of your next child? thank you

OP posts:
moljam · 30/01/2008 20:38

sorry i ment 3 years (have just reread!) but i dont know if they ment from birth of last till conception of next(i assumed so but could be wrong)
i think for me waiting till ds is 3 will be helpful anyway as he'll be at nursery for 2.5 hours a day then so i can put my feet up and come on mn rest!

Bellabananaa · 30/08/2025 20:04

I know this is ancient but I’m in the same situation and wondered if you had a third or not?

surprisebaby12 · 31/08/2025 18:29

I know someone who had 6 c sections, no problems.
