Hi..

Long story short.. Me & my partner thought we would struggle to conceive as I got told I have polycystic ovaries & may struggle by the doctor so we booked to go to New York for Christmas this year. 2 weeks after we booked New York I found out I was pregnant which obviously we are over the moon about. By the time we would be due to fly I'd be 30weeks.. would anybody else risk going or would you cancel?

We are thinking on cancelling just incase it gets nearer the time and we get told I shouldn't fly then we miss out on so much money.

Thanks x

I'd go!
We went to Greece when I was 30weeks. That was to late for me to enjoy the holiday - it was too hot and I had overestimated what I would be able to do (we love hiking, biking, exploring). Flying was absolutely fine, it was just the heat.

New York at Christmas is wonderful! No chance of overheating there 😅Obviously the medical care is excellent if you have good insurance. That would be the main point - insurance and what would happen if the baby did come that early (unlikely).

You might find you’re pretty uncomfortable sitting on the plane for that length of time at 30 weeks. I would probably be inclined to cancel for that reason alone. There’s also a risk of DVT.

Assuming you dont have any pregnancy complications you’ll be allowed to fly with a note from your doctor/ midwife.

Also although pregnancy isn’t considered a pre existing condition by insurers some policies offer better coverage than others so I would make sure you have a comprehensive policy, particularly because of the cost of healthcare in the states.

Congratulations!!! Would there be any way to postpone if you chose to? I only say this because I’m cabin crew, not for long haul I do medium length flights and I’ve had a woman who’s waters have broke mid flight at 16 weeks which didn’t end well and also only a few weeks ago our airline had a woman go into labour at 34 weeks and ended up having the baby in the terminal coming back from Spain. I’ve also taken people on holiday that are very obviously heavily pregnant and they’ve had no complications etc. sorry I realise I probably put the fear of god into you but I would speak to your doctor and midwife to weight out the pros and cons first.
