Hi..I transferred 4aa embryo first and it ended in chemical within 2 days after showing BFP. Second embryo transfer 4ab was BFN. I have remaining 4bb and 4bc. I am planning to transfer both and I don't want to do PGS now for those 2 embryos at this stage as it is already frozen (though it is technically possible to do). I am not sure if my thinking is correct. Need some advice pls.

@Wishingmom2022 sorry for your losses to date, it’s such a tough journey. Are you changing anything else for this cycle, different meds, different protocol? Hace they diagnosed the cause of your infertility? Have you spoken to your consultant about the options and whether they recommend transferring 1 or 2? My dr was able to give me the stats based on my age, number of transfers todate and embryo quality etc and it showed I had more chance of success transferring individually. Plus I really didn’t want twins. we asked about Pgs testing and he looked over our file asked us a few questions and told us we were both fit & healthy with a great sperm dna frag (have you had one?) and he thought it was unnecessary and a waste of money. Def worth having a full consultation to asses what’s happened todate if you haven’t already.
Turns out our dr was right, for us it was transfer no 5 that worked (previously having 1 chemical) it was the poorest out of the 5, at 4cb. The main thing we changed this transfer was I’m now taking blood thinners (again a conclusion he came to after lots of questions & reviewing my notes etc) and we also transferred 2 days earlier on cd15, but we didn’t previously have investigations to work out the best day- that was the next thing on the list if this one didn’t work.

Not sure if the above is of any help, but your remaining embryos are great quality you’ve got a great chance of success with them

Ps/ might be best to post this in infertility chat rather than pregnancy, I’m sure you’d get lots of comments and help from others too

@Wishingmom2022 I was in similar situation, two transfers (both ab) did not work. Then had 4bb and two 3bc left. After a bit of Googling (which wasn’t entirely scientific) decided to go with just one bb embryo as read that if you want to transfer two it is best if the are of the same grading. That was the right decision for us as I am currently pregnant albeit an anxious mess!

@Wishingmom2022 where are you based? We were not offered PGS with any of our embryos under NHS.

@Agapanthus13 Thanks for your reply. I am 36 and have endometriosis. We didn't change anything majorly for the 2 transfers. We followed the same protocol and meds. Daily I took 3 progynova and 2 lubion sc inj and 3 cyclogest. After transfer i was taking baby aspirin. My progesterone was around 51 on the day of my transfer and my doctor said it should be around 75 - 100 nmol/l. My doctor feels it could be the embryo quality and recommends for pgs but haven't done any sperm dna frag test.

@lillipilli congratulations on your pregnancy. My doctor left the decision to us for keeping 1 or 2. He hasn't mentioned anything about the same grading for placing 2 embryos. I will check with my doctor on this. Thanks for your suggestion. By the way we are seeing a private ivf clinic in uk.

Hey! I had a double transfer with the same embryo grades as yours. No additional testing. They both stuck!

Krakinou · 22/08/2022 15:54

Personally I wouldn’t do PGS on those two either. You’ve only done 2 transfers so far so it’s not really unusual that you haven’t been successful yet. PGS won’t improve the embryo quality if they aren’t good but defrosting and refreezing could damage otherwise healthy embryos (I think- could be wrong). Is it very expensive to do a transfer or are you just trying to minimize the emotional turmoil of it all?

Do you have the option of doing another round of neither of these stick?
