Im mid-30s.
I WFH (1-2 office days per month but smart/causal is fine)

i think I’ll need a coat/jacket
size 12-14 normally
Need to do school runs

I remember living in leggings last time but that was over summer. Please help! Thanks 🙏

placemarking winter is such a trouble ! Congratulations by the way!

Katjolo · 15/08/2022 22:59

Asda

PermanentlyTired03 · 15/08/2022 23:14

I had my baby early March- so peak bump over winter!
I found asos did the best maternity jeans and long sleeved tops- go a size down as they run quite big.
I didn't bother getting a maternity coat- I wore my normal coat and treated myself to a lovely wool scarf from hobbs. Depends how much you think you'll be outside I guess!
If seraphine have a sale on it's worth looking at their dresses. I got a long sleeved jumper dress that I wore throughout. Soooo comfy.

MissingGrandstand · 15/08/2022 23:16

Congratulations! I was pregnant in winter and still lived in leggings...

Also stretchy trousers from ASOS. I just wore a sized up coat towards the end rather than a proper maternity one, I was also soooo hot that when I couldn't fasten it right at the very end I didn't really care!

Lots of nice stretchy tunic jumper type affairs for over the aforementioned leggings. New Look was decent but I, having never really bought clothes in the supermarket before, found Asda/Sainsburys/Tesco best for actual maternity (rather than just oversized) clothes. Good luck!

ShuffleCase · 16/08/2022 07:16

Thanks all!

@MissingGrandstand do those supermarkets have maternity clothes in store?

I remember when I was pregnant a few years ago, New Look and H&M have small ranges in store. Anyone know if they still do? Feeling a bit dizzy/queasy so don’t want to drag myself round shops only to find they don’t have any in store.

think I’ll also try primark in store for some large shapeless stretchy tops lol!!

I reckon I will need a coat as I like to go out for a walk most days, and it’s a good way to get some gentle exercise. Will have a look out for a coat.

thanks all!

Hi OP I'm currently 35 + 3 so summer maternity here however it has been a real nightmare to find anything nice at all!

I have tried all the highstreet brands and online such as ASOS, Boohoo etc and they are all very limited or in my opinion quite boring and frumpy. Luckily I've managed to get away with oversized dresses, cycling shorts and baggy t-shirts.

The best and nicest maternity clothes I've found so far have been River Island, however they are pricey. Having said that if your going to get your wear out of them I'd splurge and get some nice bits!

BeeVeeF · 16/08/2022 07:43

I’ve had some good bits from
Asda and Sainsburys and got loads in the JoJoMamanBebe (sp?) sale that’s currently on

magd2901 · 16/08/2022 07:49

H&M has Mat things in store near me- I lived in their leggings with long tunic maternity jumpers from Next when I was pregnant with DC1 over winter. I didn’t get a maternity coat last time.
I’ve got some fab mat jeans from love leggings this pregnancy- stay up really well even from about 5 months.

WalkingOnSonshine · 16/08/2022 07:52

Love Leggings and H&M for jeans. I just wore oversized normal jumpers.

Id have a look on Vinted, you’ll be able to pick loads up for dirt cheap.

PlantsAndSpaniels · 16/08/2022 07:57

Gave birth in June and managed to get away with a pair of maternity joggers from asda and some tights from sainsburys and wear my usual clothes the rest of the time. Found that my bump didn't get big until about 6 weeks before my due date when I was on maternity leave.

I've seen coats that have an extra panel you can zip in so suitable for pregnancy and after.

121gigawatts · 16/08/2022 07:58

Hi OP, congratulations! I found new look maternity jeans very comfy, and wash very well, also reasonably priced. Don't find that H&M have much in store by me so I use the app. I think it's free delivery over £20. Also try Next clearance on their website or a next clearance store, whilst pregnant with my first through winter I got some nice maternity winter stuff in their sale. They will probably have another sale around September. As PP suggested, vinted is great, I got two items off there for my current pregnancy, still with tags on, £10 for both and one of them I've lived in.

121gigawatts · 16/08/2022 08:01

Just had a quick look on clearance section on Next and there is alot on there at the moment, including coats and hoodies.

Galaxyrippleforever · 16/08/2022 08:01

There is loads currently reduced on Dorothy Perkins! Recommend.

ParasiticMicrowasp · 16/08/2022 08:05

ASOS and New Look are good! Also Jojo Maman Bebe and Seraphine, although I bought stuff from the latter two from eBay, unless it was especially cheap in the sale. Amazon also have some relatively cheap stuff, especially by Happy Mama.

Stag82 · 16/08/2022 08:09

Congratulations OP!

I would recommend vinted if you are happy with second hand. I've had some lovely bits from there and they have looked brand new!

I've also bought a few things from H and M, Asos and Dorothy Perkins.

BellaBella38 · 16/08/2022 08:16

Hi @ShuffleCase I just got a positive result this morning! I started a May 2023 babies thread because the April one was pretty full and to be fair 42 weeks will be in May and this is my first. Trying not to get too excited but off to buy a comfy bra, I remember from previous losses that my boobs were agony by the end of the day! Congratulations to us! 🥳

Fleabea · 16/08/2022 18:46

Watching this thread with interest as not sure my normal trousers can handle the handle the strain for much longer!

Please can I ask what are peoples opinions on over bump trousers vs under bump jeans? Do under bump jeans struggle to stay up? It is all rather confusing

WhiskersPete · 16/08/2022 18:47

H and M have been my go to this pregnancy. Nice and reasonable prices

Laetitiaaa · 16/08/2022 18:50

Leggings and long sleeved dresses from Envie De Fraise was my go to

Travellingraspberry · 16/08/2022 19:16

I had this coat which was great www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/2-in-1-padded-maternity-coats-b4743.html
Could wear it as a normal coat after baby was born too.

mummatara · 16/08/2022 21:46

I lived in leggings with my winter baby. Maternity jeans are awful and uncomfortable. I didn't buy a maternity coat I got a cheap extra large one from primark that did the job well enough

BlondePotter · 17/08/2022 08:53

Love leggings are by far the best for maternity leggings; they are quite thick so they are warm enough in winter and they don't go see through at all.
I also bought a couple of long sleeve tops in JoJoMaman sale which were suitable for nursing too so I got a lot of wear out of them

Minster2012 · 17/08/2022 09:03

I had a May baby who arrived in April, Jumper dresses (I got mostly non maternity ones like thicker ones from tkmaxx) and leggings all the way for autumn winter, I had one pair of h&m super skinny over the bump jeans which were great

ShuffleCase · 17/08/2022 10:14

Ok thanks all, legggings it is! Have also ordered some dungarees, as I just don’t get on well with maternity jeans. will try to get some stretchy dresses as well as tunic tops.

Have realised if I reduce my office days to 1 a month, I only have 8 pregnant office days left, and might get away with normal clothes for the next one, so I really don’t want to spend much on workwear and can focus more on comfy WFH clothes and clothes for meeting friends in.
