What's going on with bfp?

Hi. I've nc'd for this and feel pretty stupid posting but here goes. I got 3 X faint bfp on 07/07 (2 days late for period), 2x practically negative/ 1x negative tests on 09/07 and then I started bleeding on 10/07. At that point I assumed it had been a chemical pregnancy and that was that- I've had a couple way back when we started TTC years ago. Period was usual length, bright red and lots of cramps. Anyway, period late again this month so I tested this morning and a super dark bfp came up straight away. Over the past week or so my usual pregnancy symptoms have kicked in that I had with my other DC- those symptoms tended to kick in around 6-7 weeks or so. Mainly rhinitis, loss of appetite and an overwhelming craving for cordial drinks rather than my usual tea and coffee.

I suppose my question is- has anyone had what they thought was a chemical bfp/ subsequent period but actually was pregnant still? Or have I just managed to get separate bfp two months in a row? Should I try and arrange an early scan I case I'm further along? Could this be something sinister (like a molar pregnancy though admittedly I don't know much about them)?

I'm slightly incredulous at the idea we've just managed to get two positives on the bounce mainly because we had lots of fertility problems with our first and then went on to have two more DC. After the stress of TTC first I vowed never to actively TTC again- DC2 was something of a shock as we were told we'd had our lottery win with DC1. DC3 was similarly unexpected. The idea of getting two separate, unrelated positives in two months seems crazy to me.

It's not that rare @lookslikeabombhitit. I fell pregnant within 2 months after a chemical and a friend of mine got pregnant on the first cycle. Some research shows you are somewhat more fertile in the months following a MC.

Chemical sounds very likely given what you described - getting BFNs and then heavy bleeding. If the bleeding was a part of pregnancy you wouldn't be getting a row of negatives and only very faint BFPs. All pregnancies are different - plenty of people have early symptoms - I've been exhausted, bloated and nauseous since testing positive (it prompted me in the first place) and then it did ramp up around 6-7 weeks. Sounds like your pregnancy is developing well, fingers crossed for you x

According to NHS website thing I'd only be 4 weeks (last LMP 10/07 and my cycles vary from 30-34 days) so I think that's what's throwing me plus the previous positives in the last cycle. With my other DC I didn't get any symptoms really other than a missed period until 6-7 weeks or so but the rhinitis is definitely taking hold and the desire for juice is overwhelming 😂🤦🏼‍♀️. I might pick up a clear blue indicator one.

I can't quite believe it tbh! Last time I kept saying to DH "if it's real" as a qualification every time he brought it up- it just felt off/ too good to be true/ not right- can't quite describe what I mean sorry! He was gutted when period started so I'm a bit hesitant to mention this so early and am worried that something bad is going on instead.

Bloody ridiculous really. I'm normally pretty levelheaded but the last two months have been tough for all-sorts of different reasons and I feel like my head is in a right tizz.

I got my BFP for my DD 4 weeks after my MC/CP so definitely possible. Good luck.

I got my BFP this time 3.5 weeks after an early loss. Had super strong symptoms from day 1 although they have faded (baby still ok), symptoms much stronger than with my son.

I've just done a FRER and the test line is way darker than the control. I'm not sure I've ever had that before. You honestly wouldn't think I had 3 DC... 🤦🏼‍♀️

Does a super dark test line equate to being further along or is it just higher hormone levels (so could just be that's the level I'm at/ further along than thought/ lordy- multiples?) I don't know if the strength of the line equates to anything basically.

Thank you all for replying. I've not been able to speak to anyone about this irl as they'd think I was unhinged/ selfish for wanting/having a larger family etc.

@lookslikeabombhitit if your LMP started on 10/07, you'd be just over 5 weeks (because that was the same day as my LMP). So the super dark frer could just be because you're a long way past their very low threshold?

Of course, the only way you'll know for certain is by having a scan - if you treat yourself as 5 weeks, then you'll be scanned in about 7 and they'll figure it out from there.

lookslikeabombhitit · 16/08/2022 00:51

Thanks @simplythequest . I know I ovulated on 30/07 and had sex a couple of days before and after. My cycle can vary in length between 28-38 days which makes calculating dates difficult I suppose as how would I know if I was having a shorter/ longer cycle etc. I'm now 5 days "late" based on my app averages which has average cycle as 33 days which would make me 3+3 from ovulation but 6+2 from last LMP? Maths isn't my strong suit. The first response test wasn't the super early one, just the bog standard one. I think I used the wrong abbreviation. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I suppose with my age I'm worried about missing scans at the right time for nuchal test etc. You're right though. The only way I'll know is to go for a private scan. I'll try and hold off for a couple of weeks though!

Apologies that I'm late to this thread but how did you get on with everything? Was it a new pregnancy?
