Please contact your midwife, I don't want to panic you but it can be a sign of pre eclampsia - ring them NOW and get checked out, please

yes, it can be a sign or pre eclampsia, so you need to get it checked out asap as Carpetbeetle says

char861 · 20/01/2008 18:35

It has just came on all of a sudden, I will call NHS 24 and get checked. I know its high blood pressure, can this harm baby.

if it is a sign of preeclampsia, then it is very dangerous. You should ring a midwife or someone specilised in pregnancy rather then NHS direct.

Carpetbeetle · 20/01/2008 18:38

It can harm the baby and it can progress very fast, so PLEASE don't bother with NHS direct, you NEED TO GET TO THE MIDWIFE OR HOSPITAL TONIGHT.

Seriously a woman on MN nearly died a few weeks ago with the same problem...it could be that your pain is nothing serious, but if it is, you could be in a very bad situation very quickly if you left it.

Sorry to be so scary but please just go!!!!

See here for description of pain associated with liver damage (pre-eclampsia); if it's only hurting when you move then it's probably not, but definitely better to get to a hospital and be sure. Like everyone else said, PE can come on very quickly and be dangerous to you and your baby, so best to be sure! Good luck

char - I went from absolutely fine to my liver failing entirely within four hours. Honestly you do not want to chance this - I hope you've buggered off to the labour ward by now for monitoring?
