Blood Type A and RH positive?

What does that mean? I'm 4 weeks pregnant and I got my results back.
Anything I should be alarmed about?? I tried googling but I only find questions about RH negative.

Midwife here, nothing to be worried about, it's a posh way of saying you are A + blood group.

USaYwHatNow · 11/08/2022 19:59

Which is a perfectly average blood group and you shouldn't have to give it another thought throughout your pregnancy 🙂

@USaYwHatNow Oh my goodness, thank you so much for responding and so quickly! What if baby is RH negative? Or is that not possible?? At any rate, you made me feel so much better thank you so much!

I like to think of it as the top of the pile of blood groups - a bit like an A* 👍😁 (same here)

Do you know the father of the baby's blood group? If you're both positive baby will also be positive. Negative blood groups are in the grand scheme of things a bit rarer and generally more of an issue when the mother has a negative blood group and if baby is positive. This would then mean the mother needs to have injections of something called anti-D, which mop up some of the rhesus factor. Otherwise if mother is negative and baby is positive, then the mothers body could theoretically attack a subsequent pregnancy. Nowadays we can test to see if a rhesus negative mothers baby is also negative or positive. If they're negative we leave them be, if the baby is positive, we can give the mother the anti d injection.

Baby's blood group will also depend on the father's blood type; does he know it?

I am B- and dh is A+. We knew this already due to giving blood

Being positive is fine. It's only a concern if you're negative and baby could be positive.

I don't think there could be any problem with baby being negative and you being positive.

Also, even if you're both positive, baby could still be negative as you could each have a negative recessive gene (I'm pretty certain)

@USaYwHatNow Well it looks like hubby is going to get his blood drawn! Lol. Thank you so much for educating me. I appreciate your time so much.
