Maternity leave - waiting for baby - what to do!

Hi, I’ve started maternity leave this week and I’m just waiting for baby! I’m tired and a bit achey but generally well so I’m finding it a bit boring and frustrating already (and could have 4+ weeks of this if it goes to 42 weeks)!!!

What things did you/can you do to pass the time? (Washing all done, baby stuff prepped already etc!)

I'm a week in to maternity leave and so far have had a blissful day of relaxing followed by being ill and general getting things done like the endless hospital and midwife appointments. Trying to relax again and bank some sleep! Also done what a lot of others have said and had a sort through what I'll need for the next few months then cracked on, e.g. starting some Christmas present shopping before I get too sleep deprived.

Oh yes, I would definitely echo a pp and look into bottle feeding, if you haven't already. I just assumed I would breastfeed as all my friends did and NCT made it sound very natural and easy. LOL. I knew nothing about bottle feeding and it was so confusing when also sleep deprived and shellshocked from having a new baby (who wasn't thriving).

Make cookie dough and freeze it in balls.

After the baby comes you might not feel like eating the lentil stew you have batch cooked but you'll probably enjoy the cookies.

Best reply 😂
And cook the cookies from frozen, game changer!

Honestly, loads of good suggestions but I'd echo the ones saying get your hair done, get a massage etc have a little pamper and enjoy being 'just you'
Watch some YouTube videos about baby best buys and hospital bags and get excited about meeting baby soon 🥰 x

Having never managed to get a maternity leave as I keep getting admitted to hospital instead, go out for dinner, go swimming, get pampered. I did manage to get lots of book reading done, that feels impossible now. Going solo to the cinema sounds amazing. A darkened air conditioned room sounds perfect in this weather. Batch cooking is also a good shout.

This is inspired love it.

So I’m planning a charity shop town pottering morning (after doing nothing but lie down today and now feeling grumpy ha) and I’m deffo putting cinema on my list for Monday! Weekends are fine because I’ve got husband for walks and family visits it’s these long 5 days in between!

Also today I’ve made myself a little visual advent calendar of 28 days taking me to the full 42 weeks it’s only a motivational word each day but it’s nice to have something to tick off (obvs hoping baby comes before I tick them all off!)

I really wish I’d thought to make frozen cookie dough! I was going to make some lactation cookies to take to hospital but baby came early.
I’m laughing at all the suggestions to go to the cinema. I would have spent most of the film in the bathroom and been pissed off about missing most of it😂Could be worth it for the air-con anyway.
