NHS Harmony testing in Northern Ireland

Hello,
I’m currently 10 weeks pregnant and I live in Scotland. We’re due to visit family in Northern Ireland for a few weeks which means I can’t get the Harmony test done at home. Has anyone had experience of getting the test done on the NHS outwith their usual NHS trust, particularly in NI? I’d rather not pay hundreds of pounds to have it done privately as every penny counts just now. Thanks all.

I live in Scotland and was t offered the harmony on the nhs, is this a new thing?

The harmony test isn't offered on the NHS? The NIPT is but only to people who meet certain conditions

I’ve been offered it as I’m over 40. I definitely want to have it done and if there’s any way I can get it done via the NHS in NI that would be great.

I'm in NI, in my 40s and had to go private for my Harmony test 4 years ago @NoelaBK. Unless something has changed, they don't provide it on the NHS here.

Extra testing is not done in Northern Ireland at all so you won't be able to get it done through HSCNI.
There's a few private companies where you can pay £££ to get it done.

Ah I didn’t realise the testing wasn’t available. Thanks for letting me know.

You’re not just going outside your usual trust, the NHS in NI and scotland are totally diffeent organisations with different names and they won’t have access to the same patient database, summary care record etc.

It’s a horrible lie midwives tell that you can go anywhere in the uk with just your notes for uninterrupted routine pregnancy care.

I fell foul if this with my first pregnancy, moved to NI at 34 weeks pregnant and had to do a full booking in after waiting to fully register with a GP and wait for a GP appointment for a referral to a maternity unit.

It’s a totally different way of doing things in NI.
