Getting anti-nausea meds at 17 weeks?

Has anyone started them so late in pregnancy?

I suffered through the first trimester with bad nausea and bloating, thinking it would subside at 12 weeks like it did with DD.

But I'm almost 17 weeks now, with a boy (not sure if that makes a difference to hormones) and I'm still feeling pretty nauseous and gassy.

At my 16 week midwife appointment, she said I could request anti nausea meds. Has anyone started taken them at a later stage, and did they help? Not sure whether to stick it out a bit longer and see if I feel less sick.

I had antisickness meds from about 7 weeks, but it took until 15 weeks to get prescribed something that actually helped the nausea. I'm still medicated now at 29+2 - every time I am late with a dose or try to come off then the nausea returns.

I guess it depends how it's affecting your day to day life. For me it was debilitating especially with a toddler to look after. But only you can make that call.

It's really getting me down as it's just relentless, and I have a two-year-old to look after. I think I'm going to go ahead and get them.

Thanks for your reply!

If you're taking ondansetron (excuse spelling) get out in front of the constipation as soon as you start. You'll probably need an osmotic laxative, stool softener etc and you need it before you get constipated as once it's entrenched you're in trouble. It's lethal.
