17 Weeks Pregnant and Can't stop eating...Help!'

After a very bumpy 2.5 years with 2 MC and one Ectopic we are finally 17 weeks pregnant with a baby boy due in Jan and we could not be happier.

Have had a very text book pregnancy so far and lucky to have no sickness but ever since 12 weeks I literally cannot stop eating rubbish. I have cravings for sweet things all day every day and despite trying to concentrate on fruit, i just cant manage it.

I have never been a skinny minnie but my Midwife is not worried about my pre-pregnancy BMI so i will not be monitored on this during my pregnancy.

i was eating very sensibly pre this pregnancy so I don't know if I am trying to make up for lost time - but i don't want to make giving birth harder than it needs to be nor do i want to make loosing the baby weight harder because i have put on 2 stone extra from eating too much cake.

Was doing regular exercise pre-pregnancy but with it being too hot outside, I have really cut this completely out as I have a history of fainting in the hot weather despite my iron levels being top notch.

is anyone else in a similar situation/could give me some advice I would be massively grateful!

xx

In the same position here Sad just about to turn 20 weeks and turns out I've put on a stone since i conceived!! Feeling really shit about it but I can't stop eating! I gave up exercise in the last heatwave and didn't pick it back up again. Arghh so hard isn't it!

23 weeks here and I can identify with the sugar craving! I go mad for the stuff - especially sugary cereal 🤦‍♀️

I was the same throughout most of the pregnancy - ate so many sweet things - could easily eat 6 biscuits in one sitting! Now 36 weeks and borderline gestational diabetes with a very large baby, so no more sugar for me!

I would try to eat other snacks that are low in sugar - e.g cheese and oat cakes, natural yogurt, savoury popcorn, chicken pieces, peanut butter. There’s some nice Nairn’s reduced sugar ginger biscuits when I can’t resist having one (just one these days though).

I had to give up running in the first trimester as had a heavy bleed during a run, and I didn’t do much during the second trimester. Now I take a post dinner walk to help lower my blood sugar as that’s about all I can manage!

Anyway, it’s hard but try to do what you can as it gets harder as you go on.
