Enlarged heart 37 weeks

Maybe a long shot but looking for any experiences of baby being found to have an enlarged heart late in pregnancy?

I went for a growth scan today (in preparation for an ECV last week) and the sonography were reported this. I don’t know how enlarged the heart appears to be. He also said the abdomen is up around the 95th percentile but femurs down in the 7th. It was a negative, frightening atmosphere. I later rang the hospital for help but the earliest they can scan me to get a better idea of what’s going on is tomorrow morning.

Harmony test and anomaly scan earlier in the pregnancy came back fine.

As ever, Google is not encouraging.

Help???

I have no experience but wanted to offer a handhold. Have you called your midwife? They might be able to explain what these findings could mean Flowers

Thanks for offering support @BuffyTheBuffetSlayer! I’m in Australia and the process jn my city is to call the birthing unit for issues like this. I did that, and they had me come in to talk to a doctor, but it wasn’t the doctor’s area of expertise. She tried to reassure me but ultimately said she hasn’t seen it before. So I’m just waiting… the sonographer really made me feel that something is wrong.

Sorry I have no experience of this, but just try to distract yourself whilst you are waiting 💕 scans are often not as accurate and difficult to fully interpret later down the line (37 weeks!) as baby is too sizeable to properly measure so hold faith that itl be fine and good luck for the birth x

Thank you @KoalaPineapple , I will try to take your advice x

Have they tested you for gestational diabetes? The enlarged heart may not be attributable but often a very large abdominal circumference in relation to other measurements (femur, head circumference) can be an indicator of GD.

I'm not sure what testing is like in AUS but In the UK if the mother has no risk factors they are not routinely tested and it is quite often missed as a result.

If not, even with late stage pregnancy and those measurements I would ask to be tested as it's never too late to make a few changes if needed, and late pregnancy/Labour is often the time when GD if left undiagnosed can have the most negative impact.
