Gender Selection IVF in Cyprus - Advice

Grish069 · 02/08/2022 12:00

Hello,

My husband and I are looking into options re: Gender Selection / Family Balancing IVF in Cyprus. We are based in the UK.

I have found a clinic online which has good Google reviews (including from people with well established profiles - I tend to ignore reviews from people that have only done one review as they could be fake). It's called Eurocare IVF Cyprus, in Nicosia. It looks like they offer this service for around 5,000 EUR.

Has anyone gone through them, and what were their experiences?

We do not have any 'fertility problems' as such - just that we have a son already and are desperate for a daughter now.

Is it likely that this can be successful after one try?

Also, other people have mentioned in previous threads Team Z, but when I google this, it comes up with several different websites and clinics with this name. Could anyone who is experienced with them please provide the specific website and clinic link, and idea of cost?

Thank you so much in advance :)

Noticed a few people talking about sourcing medication etc. I've used Asda a lot for the more straight forward stuff such as progesterone pessaries, fragmin blood thinners, down regulation (prostap, Buserelin). However for the more fancy stuff that often needs refrigerating etc there's a company called stork based in yorkshire that a lot of clinic use. They deliver to your address, it's a one hour window etc. it's all packaged so you know what's for the cupboard and fridge etc. not as cheap as Asda but I've always felt more comfortable getting the stimulation drugs and trigger shots from them as it can be a faff at times for Asda getting a hold of certain things xx

That's fab that they can do that and get the results back so quickly so you can do a fresh transfer on day five. I guess that's another bonus of going abroad for treatment. It was a 2-4 week wait for genetic testing reports in the UK. That certainly takes the pressure off knowing you can do fresh transfers as well as freeze some xx

Hi all

Please can you let me know which clinic you used in Cyprus? I'm in talks with British IVF and Team Z. Thank you

Newmumsie2016 · 12/02/2024 22:34

@maria2018

I'm 5 months pregnant with Team Z (Hope Fertility) they don't actually have their own hospital so treatment is offered out of The British IVF Hospital. It's not been totally smooth, but they've been honest and provided advice along the way.

maria2018 · 13/02/2024 05:47

@Newmumsie2016 thank you for your reply. Would you recommend them or would you have gone directly with British IVF. Congratulations regarding your pregnancy!

Newmumsie2016 · 13/02/2024 11:42

@maria2018 Yes I would, if your treatment is likely to be straight-forward. Unfortunately, mine was rather complex and resulted in DE.

I had no idea fertile people went through ivf just because they want to choose the sex of their baby. I’m shocked. Babies aren’t commodities and I’m amazed anyone admits to doing this. I’m horrified that anywhere offers this as a service, so unethical.

Meadowy · 13/02/2024 11:47

And I’ve only seen this post because it’s trending btw.

maria2018 · 13/02/2024 13:14

Thank you @Newmumsie2016

It’s completely illegal in the UK and for good reason. Having been through IVF for infertility myself, I’d feel sick thinking I was sat in the waiting next to someone willingly doing it just so they could have one or the other 🤦🏻‍♀️

Newmumsie2016 · 13/02/2024 15:01

@maria2018 you're so welcome. This thread isn't used much, you'll find much more support and help from men & women going through this all over the world from social media groups, rather than this platform. Wishing you all the best 🤞

maria2018 · 13/02/2024 15:02

@Newmumsie2016 do you have any recommendations? If not , not to worry.

Newmumsie2016 · 13/02/2024 15:06

@maria2018 try North Cyprus IVF Group and North Cyprus IVF Group (trnc) and there's a worldwide group just for GS Gender Selection IVF

maria2018 · 13/02/2024 15:06

@Newmumsie2016 thank you!

Meadowy · 13/02/2024 17:20

Newmumsie - “going through this” is an odd way to describe someone who is deliberately taking a course of action that is morally dubious at best and entirely unnecessary.

Sinuhe · 13/02/2024 17:28

I think it doesn't matter what sex your baby is as long as it is healthy.

WithACatLikeTread · 13/02/2024 18:46

I would be suggesting counselling if you are that desperate for a certain sex you would go through IVF for it. This coming from someone with experience of IVF.

I agree it’s absolutely disgusting. Should be worldwide illegal. These poor kids only wanted for their sex.

Himawarigirl · 13/02/2024 18:50

I had no idea this was a thing either, I’m really shocked to learn it is. And ‘family balancing’ is such a creepy euphemism for it.

Naptrappedmummy · 13/02/2024 18:54

To anyone considering doing this I would really think it through. I know a few people who have gone to extreme lengths to obtain their preferred sex, and interestingly the baby didn’t fix their ‘gender disappointment’. It turned out to be depression in disguise, and they continued to feel sad for one reason or another.

Teddysma · 15/02/2024 14:13

I don’t think this is true. You know a few people that have gone through it and weren’t happy with it?

Naptrappedmummy · 15/02/2024 14:31

Well it’s true for the people I know. Admittedly there was only 1 IVF, the other 2 just kept having babies until they had their preferred sex. It hasn’t ‘fixed’ any of them.

Has anyone who has been successful with gender selection with ivf able to share their experience ? I am looking into it but cannot find much information

Probably cos it's (rightly) illegal in many countries.
